I am a one-man videographer who needs to protect my investments like my Canon XL-H1 HD camera. This bag does just that.
The overall size of the bag is large enough to protect the camera well, but not so big that I need a dolly. (although one is available) The removable dividers allow me to configure the bag to lock-in my camera.
Especially nice is the lens pillow. This bean-bag like pillow is super soft so that I can put it right under the lens and have it support the entire camera softly.
The only negative to say about this bag are the 2 top straps that lock over the top of the bag. When I need to grab and go shooting, the straps have a tendency to get in the way of zipping/unzipping the top load bag.
If you are looking to protect an expensive videocamera, DON'T be cheap, get a quality bak like the Kata CC-197. You'll be glad you did, especially the first time you drop the camera & bag onto a concrete floor and the camera still works.

Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
This thing is pretty solid, evenly distributes the weight of my gear, and provides support and internal bracing for everything I throw into it. Having a dSLR rig and components, it isn't easy to find a case that fits everything, as most are designed with existing cameras in mind, but this one does the job for me, for now. It fits my 7D with mattebox, on the main rig, shoulder mount detached, and all the rest of my necessary gear for a shoot. 7 minutes of assembly at the location, and I'm ready to go. WIth piece of mind that the camera is safe in the case to and from the venue.

I ordered this bag for my Sony MC2000U. It fits great and has extra space for my wireless mics and space for Go Pros when I get them. Very durable bag, Kata makes a great product so no worries when ordering something they make. Very useful bag.

Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
Totally customizable interior thanks to Kata's system of velcro dividers which can be configured any way you like. The double-zipper top panel peels back nicely, allowing easy access to interior. It's a big bag. Inside, I store a JVC HM700, cases for wireless mics and SD cards, Anton Bauer batteries and charger.
Good protection for day-to-day use, especially with the aluminum reinforcement. Lens pillow is a nice touch. Zippers are heavy-duty.
I own another Kata bag designed for DSLRs and will make this observation: both bags feel "overdesigned" with too many clever multi-zipper openings and reinforcing clasps. Simple is better for working gear, although hats-off to Kata for trying to deliver more. With the CC-197, more pockets for small item storage would have been my preference.

Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
I bought this case to fit my Sony PMW-EX3 with the Sony VCTSP2BP shoulder mount attached. It fits nicely! I still had room for extra batteries, a LED lightbar (flolight 256), filters, and still have room. There is even an option where you can get the Kata "trolley" to add wheels to this bag.
Lastly, there is a "lens pillow" inside to support the front end of your cam. A+

This is a big bag. I use it for my Sony EX3 and it fits perfectly. The interior is very customizable and Kata's velcro anything anyplace is a solid feature of the bags.
Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
We purchased Sony HVR-HD 1000 cameras for our Radio & Television Broadcasting classes at school. At the time of purchase, the cameras were new on the market and had no recommended case. Kata listed the CC-197 GDC case as a fit for the HD 1000. We ordered them from B&H who also listed them as a match and were pleased with the fit and the roomy accessory storage in the case. They are also well padded for protection and lightweight enough for easy carrying.

Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
This is a well-built soft case I use for transporting my HPX 170 and 35mm adapter on rails (locally - I would NOT put this on a plane). It is well padded, and if you are not using the adapter, there is a section you can move to keep the camera in place. I just wish it had more side compartments, but otherwise a great deal. It's not a Porta Brace, but it's half the price.

Comments about Kata CC-197 GDC HDV Case:
I bought this Kata because my camera rig had grown too large for my old bag. My rig consists of a Canon Hv20, 35mm adapter, lens, 3x3 mattebox, follow focus, and top mounted 7" lcd. I can drop the whole thing in the bag without need for breakdown and still have some room left for misc equipment. I only wish it came with more divider pads to arrange compartments better. It also only has one zipper pouch on the outside for storage. My major complaint would be the bag walls aren't as rigid or as padded as I would like them to be, so while this is good for everyday transport and storage, you can't be overly rough with it. Overall I like it and would buy again. It has the typical Kata quality - strong stitching and durable fabric with sturdy straps and handles.
