The Gitzo GT3541 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger than its 12 layer predecessor. Although the tubing is lighter, it still offers the same resistance to vibration. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.
The GT3541 is ideal for use with professional equipment, medium format cameras, and SLRs with a 300mm lens, up to 400mm maximum. It offers an excellent load capacity rating of 39.6 lbs (18kg) and good torsional rigidity.
- Improved Leg Spread
- This tripod has been improved with a third ultra-low leg spread to take full advantage of the Ground Level Set.
- Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) System
- The Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) system makes it quick and easy to open and close the tripod. Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds.
- G-Lock Design
- The G-Lock mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock's special design also provides a "gravity lock" effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.
- Redesigned Upper Discs & Bolts
- This tripod features completely redesigned upper discs and bolts. The discs, which are composed of aluminum, feature a safe lock material that reduces vibrations and improves head locking. The improved high-grade stainless steel bolt design prevents it from dropping inside the column when adjusted, and makes controlling the tread length stress-free. The redesigned bolts are also corrosion and oxidation resistant.
- Ground-Level Set
- This feature allows you to remove the center column to save weight and get the camera closer to the ground. The upper disk is removed from the center column and inserted directly into the upper casting using the column hook. No tools required.
- 1mm Gitzo 6X Carbon Fiber Tube
- Gitzo was able to develop a six-crossed multilayer carbon fiber 30% lighter than the previous 1.5mm generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality.
- Performance Design
- Performance design allows the legs to be set individually at 24°, 55° and 90° to cover every angle you want to shoot.
- Hook
- Redesigned built-in, spring-loaded retractable hook on the bottom of the center column provides a place to hang a stabilizing counterweight such as camera, sand or water bags.
- Removable Leg Tips
- Removable rubber leg tips are interchangeable with Gitzo universal accessories such as the big foot, long spike, etc.
- Rapid Column
- Grooved Rapid center column, with locking collar, for improved stability.

Just received my tripod yesterday and it is everything I expected to be. The new leg adjustment rings are a vast improvement over the hand-shredding older Gitzo leg adjustment rings. The tripod is light and steady and is built like a tank. My only complaint is that the tripod feet unscrew easily, especially when one loosens all the leg adjustment rings on a leg at the same time. Other than that, I'm in love with this tripod!

Got this tripod about a month ago and after a long research and thought process I went for it and haven't been disappointed yet. When they say the tripod is sturdy it's probably an understatement. You set this bad boy up in any condition and it's not gonna move.
Originally compared to Induro CB and Manfrotto. Paid a little more but no doubt this Beast is going to last me for at least the next 10 years.

Because weight and stability are big factors, this tripod is a dream. Tripods I've owned in the past have either been too heavy or too flimsy. All controls are easy to manage. An extremely well built product. A little pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Pretty much as expected. I upgraded to this model from a GT1540 for travel. While a bit heavier than the GT1540, the increase in stability, even in wind, is worth the extra weight. This is a quality item. The leg locks (rotating collar for each leg) are firm and assuring. The center post is also rigid though I rarely raise it and when I do never more than 1/3 to 1/2 it's available height.
The ability to remove the center post for low shots is one I expect to use. If the pod did not have this feature I probably would have opted for one without a center column. In practice I can convert to/from column-less mode in bout 30 seconds which is very acceptable.
The only feature I wish it had was a way to losen/tighten all 3 leg locks on a leg at one time with a single device.

I just took my GT3541 out for its maiden voyage yesterday, shooting a frozen and snow-covered waterfall for 5 hours in freezing temps. I upgraded from a Manfrotto XB190 and what a difference! Weight is about the same and it folds down more compactly. The platform is incredibly stable, and my shots were tack-sharp, and I never would have expected to see such a difference. I debated between this and the GT3541 LS model, but I'm only 5'9" tall and I wanted the center column for fine macro adjustments. The height is perfect for me. I mounted a Markins Q20 Ballhead with lever release, and it's a perfect combination. Both fit easily into a Gitzo GC-3100 case, with about 6 inches to spare with the ballhead in the upright position. Plenty of room for a small gadget bag inside. Wish I got this tripod a long time ago, what a difference it makes!

Did a lot of research, decided to bite the bullet and buy the best. I had already bought one cheap tripod and figured that as I worked my way up the lesser tripods I would end up spending as much or more than I spent to buy this product. Its a joy to use, simple construction/operation and the carbon fiber makes it very light for the size.

This tripid is awesome! It is my third Gitzo. I purchased it not because there was anything wrong with the other two, but it has different features that I was looking for. It is very light but incredibly sturdy. It holds my gear without any problems, regardless the size of my body and lens. One of its best features is that the center pole can be removed completely, and with the legs out completely, the camera is just inches off the ground.

I thought I only needed GT2541, but eventually I bought the GT3541 instead for mostly landscape shooting. They're about the same height, but the 3541's bottom segment is much thicker at that same height, and the circle of space between the tripod segments is also much wider. Those factors are real world important for better pictures, as I just gained amazing experience from a vacation trip of Gaspe in Quebc, Canada.
Having the larger-class tripod allows me to be more 'impatient' all the time when composing and shooting-those extra few seconds that I no-longer need to wait after I take my hand away from gear and bring it to my shutter release can add up to more opportunities in changing light or action/wildlife scenarios.
High quality all-around, easy to use, smooth in operation. Its a bit bulk comparing to my low-end Benro n227, but it is worth to every penny spent.

ordered this tripod before a trip to colorado. carbon fiber is incredibly light and super sturdy. it was a little heavy, with my rrs bh40 ballhead, for full day of hiking but great for around camp and within a mile of the car. great stability for my nikon d300 with 18-200 lens. performed great for high ISO work
