The Gitzo GT5561SGT Giant Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs is a giant tripod that uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.
Also known as the Tele Studex, the GT5560SGT is designed for "over head level", offering extra flexibility in the studio or at weddings, concerts and sport events. It can reach an extreme height of 8.5' (2.6 m).
Systematic tripods have a unique ultra wide top platform that guarantees an incredibly stable base for any professional high performance equipment. This platform can be removed and replaced with other accessories, making this a fully customizable system.
- Versatility
- All Systematic tripods are supplied with a flat top plate. The optional camera attachments can be fitted by simply unlocking the bolt in the top casting, lifting out the flat plate and fastening in the alternative adapter or column.
- Safe Lock Disc
- The Safe Lock Disc top plate, composed of a techno-polymer compound, makes it possible to control the locking torque without prematurely stopping camera rotation and ensuring that users' equipment is safely and effectively locked in place.
- Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) System
- The Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) system makes it quick and easy to open and close the tripod. Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds.
- G-Lock Design
- The G-Lock mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock's special design also provides a "gravity lock" effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.
- 1mm Gitzo 6X Carbon Fiber Tube
- Gitzo was able to develop a six-crossed multilayer carbon fiber 30% lighter than the previous 1.5mm generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality.
- Performance Design
- Performance design allows the legs to be set individually at 24°, 55° and 90° to cover every angle you want to shoot.
- Removable Leg Tips
- Removable rubber leg tips are interchangeable with Gitzo universal accessories such as the big foot, long spike, etc.

I have read a lot of trash talk about Gitzo tripods but in my 30 year as a professional photographer it has been the only tripod I have used.
It has not only been an extremely reliable, durable and superb piece of high quality gear but it has endured many tough assignments in difficult places and conditions. Nothing can be tagged as ¨pricey¨ if it performs as it should and if it helps you perform as you should.
I could not be happier with this new carbon fiber tripod, it is extremely light and very stable. Its 102¨ height is unbelievable and it folds to a very manageable 28¨ lenght, it can even be used at under 7¨! As asoon as I bought, it I began using it and I don´t see myself using anything else from now on.

This is my first Gitzo tripod and I was blown away by the quality. This thing is rock solid. I bought this for the superb height of 102" because I need to get my camera high when shooting church plays and musicals. The price I high, but the quality & features will make this the last tripod I ever have to buy.

When GT-5561SGT lengthens a leg, the tripods can reach the height of 260cm. Therefore I can take a photograph over heads even if the front is full of people. Because my height is 172cm, I use the stepladder of the product made in aluminum of 150cm when I use the tripods in full length and use it. I can carry it very easily because the tripods is only 3.4kg,very light. The Section is six steps, but can install a tripod quickly so that there is G-Lock.
In addition, I use LensCoat Tripods Leg Protectors for an anti-temperature measure and prevention of scratch.
Tripods made by Gitzo are expensive, but do not think with the shopping high at all if you think about using it for a long period.

After getting over the high cost of this tripod and the associated bag, I couldn't be happier. Coupled with an Arca-Swiss head, this works for all my camera setups outdoors without any hassle, and gets above my head without a problem (being over 6'8", that's an accomplishment). I don't have any trouble carrying this for a few miles and find it worth it for rock-steady results. It would also work very well in a studio. Little vibration, and a hook is there to add weight if needed, but it probably won't be. Built like a tank...a simple tank that doesn't break down. It doubles as an offensive weapon if needed.

This tripod allows me to shoot above the crowd with ease. It is also capable of so many configurations with assessors it can grow with my future need. I would recommend legs covers for scratch prevention as well as temperature protection. In the sun the carbon fiber gets hot to the touch quickly.
