Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution
The Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution from Logitech is an integrated wireless mouse and keyboard combination package designed to offer more convenience and style in your work setup. Both the mouse and keyboard work with Bluetooth technology and have a range of approximately 30'. Because the Bluetooth signal is sent from the included USB mini-receiver, this solution can be used on any Windows XP, Vista or 7 machine with an available USB port.
The mouse features high-precision laser tracking and a recharging base eliminates the need for batteries. Its sculpted shape is designed to provide a more comfortable fit for your hand. Other features include rapid and click-to-click scrolling. The keyboard includes an LCD clock and a number of hot key controls that can be used to turn common tasks and the use of important programs into one-touch button functions.

I bought this kit specifically for the mouse. Logitech has discontinued the MX Revolution with a new model that I do not care for. I've been using that mouse at work for years, and wanted to buy one for my office at home.
I was so glad I found this kit. I would have paid that price for the mouse alone, that is how much I enjoy it. The keyboard is actually very nice. I like the little LCD at the top. It displays temperature, has built in calculator functionality, shows current media title that is playing. The keys on it are very quiet and smooth. I find them a pleasure to type on. I'm very pleased with both of them, especially since this MX Revolution uses bluetooth, unlike my old model.

The LCD screen was broken so I am unable to rate that part of it at this time. I did like the items and the feel of the keys. The mouse is very different for me but I am sure I will love it's features after getting used to it.[...] I did contact Logitech and they were very accommodating. They even emailed a prepaid shipping lable for UPS to ruturn the product. I have used many Logitech products over the years and this was the first to be defective.I have upgraded computers since the return of the keyboard and mouse and will be interested as to how it will do with new Windows 7 operating system.

I have been using wireless keyboards and mice by logitech for about 7 years now. While the keyboard is much nicer to the touch, the new mouse design is taking some getting used to. I really like the display on the keyboard as it allows me to see the time without having to leave my full screen applications. It's also pretty awesome how the mouse scrolling wheel automatically switches between clicking and spinning. I also find many of the extra buttons more useful now than in past models.
There is only one thing I wish it had that it doesn't and that is backlit keys. Apart from that, it is a GREAT combo for a GREAT price.

Excellent overall quality, but lack of a Num Lock key and unfamiliar/inconvenient positioning of the INS and DEL keys make this version less user-friendly than was its predecessor. Changing to a rechargeable rather than a battery-operated mouse is a plus.

I use the keyboard and mouse combo for business and just love it.
I love the fact that I can custom program all the buttons on the mouse and most of the buttons on the keyboard with the software provided. It lets me set the keyboard up to launch programs and access the most commonly used files that I use every day which saves a lot of time.
I personally have no complaints about the keyboard other than I wish the front where the rubber is molded into the keyboard would come off so that I could use my own but this is something that after a while I simply forgot about and now I am use to it.

We use the MX5500 keyboards in our conference and training rooms that really benfit from the bluetooth technology. The keyboard battery life is very good for a bluetooth device. We have had no issues with the 8 we have bought over the last 2 years, the most recent should be as good.

The mouse & keyboard work great. With the bluetooth I can sit in my recliner across the room to watch movies and listen to music, with the media controls conveniently on the keyboard itself. Great responsiveness with the mouse for gaming, as well. Would definitely buy again!

I wasn't aware that Logitech's Set-point was only for PC. I wanted to use this combo primarily with my Mac. Not having something like Set-point for Mac takes aware a lot of the configuration that is offered to PC users. This is my only complaint. If Logitech will over something like Set-point for Mac, it would be perfect. In spite of this, I still recommend this combo if not for the mouse itself. There's just something about the feel of this mouse that feels right. The keyboard is pretty impressive as well. Simple but practical with many perks. I would have given this 5 stars if not for the Set-point for Mac issue, but it really deserves 5 stars.

The hardware performs well, as indicated in the reviews I read before purchasing. Keyboard is fast and has a good feel. Mouse has a ton of buttons, good weight, and functions smoothly. The software limits the customizability of both mouse and Keyboard by using drop-down menus for assigning tasks to buttons. On the mouse, certain buttons (and some of the most natural choices) cannot be assigned as double-click, for example.
