The Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs follows in the footsteps of the highly popular and award winning 190X series, but has been further improved thanks to the use of carbon fiber tubing for its legs. By using 100% carbon tube structures for its legs, the 190CX guarantees a higher load capacity and an increased height with a lighter overall weight (-20%), thanks to a completely new design, which incorporates the use of lighter components.
The 190CX also features other improvements, such as an improved leg locking system and redesigned angle adjustment levers. While it can reach a maximum working height of 57.5" (146cm), it can also be used as low as 3.3" (8.5cm) by using the low angle adapter built-in to the center column.
Ideal for use with cameras up to SLR size with medium pro zoom lens attached.

I prefer to use a tripod for night photography, multi-shot panoramas, and HDR exposures requiring multiple takes at the precise same framing. Sometimes I just need a tripod for landscape shots at very small apertures. For years, I have been making do with off-brand compact tripods. Within a year or two of use, the tightening knobs and column gears on these cheap models always wore out. They also never seemed to be light enough for extended carrying. That's why I finally turned to a professional carbon fiber tripod.
The Manfrotto 190CX3 is the answer to my needs! The folded size is about as small as possible for a full-sized tripod. I use it with the Manfrotto #484 Mini Ball head. Together, they are ultra-light and adequately stable. I'll never go back to those old cheap tripods. The 190CX3 is ideal for carrying on long hikes. Using a shoulder strap, I can even carry it while riding a bike. The twist-levers on the legs and head are quick and easy to adjust, and they have an iron grip. I've never had a tripod with legs that adjust to independent angles, but I quickly learned to appreciate this advantage. With the ball head, I can put my camera into any angle I want in seconds. I also like the ability to remove the center column when I don't need it.
This is a pretty stable tripod, but if it's windy enough, I'm sure it will shake. The inclusion of a hook at the center is brilliant. I can hang my camera bag there for additional stability. The only thing that would make this model better is retractable spiked feet.

An absolute gem, but it arrived with quite a flaw!
I set it up on arrival and played with it in the dining room. It was everything I'd hoped for - simply the best all round tripod I've ever owned, and I've owned a few. Light, rock steady, quick to erect and collapse away.
On it's first outing, It was fine for the first two locations shooting 1 minute time exposures with infrared and 10 stop ND filters on the seashore. However, the third stop off, I set it up on a quay at sunset - what happened, the leg dropped off and bits flew everywhere! I was lucky, there was a lull in the wind so I retrieved all the bits. Back home I realised one of the allen bolts had not been tightened up fully so when I pulled the leg out it all dropped apart. Lucky my camera wasn't attached at the time is all I can say. I bought an imperial 1/8 inch allen key and rebuilt the leg - its fine now (that is I think it is - I haven't tried it yet).
The motto for all buyers - check the bolts are not dangerously loose as was my experience. I've given this tripod 2 stars for obvious reasons, but if it wasn't for this shocker of an experience, I'd rate it five stars - it is actually a very, very good tripod.

SUPER LIGHT and just so rock solid for the lightness!! I put a 701 head on it for my mk3 and it is super sweet! If you are like me and were using the old school 501 503 head on the old aluminum legs, kill that set up and reduce the weight by 2 or three tons :)
Really just do it. The only thing you will miss is that the legs alone will not extend anywhere near as high as the old larger heavier legs but that is a benefit when you go to store the legs and carry them around. I use these in the sand and they hold up fabu. Unreal price too. Just can't say enough great things really!

Using this tripod with 501 Video Head (Part of BH package). A Deal with a capital D! The 190cx3 holds our D7000 rig(monitor, rail, etc..)with no stability issues, even when panning with the 501 head. This carbon fiber tripod works as well as our other tripod, which costs twice as much.It has served us well in our film production. I bought this after weeks of research, which yielded nothing that can top this package.

I was very surprised to find the Horizontal Center Column feature this will be very cool for copy work. I have been using an older version of these legs for a few years and I am very happy with them as well. I use a 501 head on them and it is a good match, great legs and a good head.

It was smaller than I was expecting, but it is light and the low angle adapter is great for low shots.
The head I am using makes it a bit top heavy, so I recommend smaller heads.
Wont work as an outside tripod in iceland, far to unstable unless you use the elastic rope and caribena trick.

Great tripod, have had it for about 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. It is a great superlight base (not the aboslute lightest though) and I combined it with the 054 Magnesium Ball Head. The combo is gray but would recommend buying the spiked feet the put on the bottom.

Ultimate solution for affordable and lightweight tripod for hiker. Your tripod weight is not important while travelling by car, but when you get out and take backpack, equipment and everything else on your back that starts matter.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
I use the tripod for birding with a spotting scope that is also used for digiscoping. I walk long distances with the scope/tripod and travel with it. I use a Manfrotto 055CL when I'm not hiking/travelling. The 190CX3 is about as steady as one can make a smaller, lighter tripod. Of course it is much lighter and packs easier than the 055CL. The flip levers on the legs are necessary because I'm always using the tripod with a heavy scope attached. Tripods with screw-tightened legs are relatively very awkward in this regard. I removed the plug at the bottom of the centre column to save a few ounces and replaced it with a plastic nut and bolt (formerly used to attach car licence plates). The bolt is needed so the column can't accidentally come right out. The only improvement I could suggest is adding a solid metal loop on the side, in place of the existing plastic one. The loop isn't even mentioned in the 'user manual', but I suppose it is for hanging a weight bag?? Anyway, I generally carry my tripod and scope on a sling (so that my hands are free to use binoculars), and I need a place to attach the clip. I had to ignore the inadequate plastic loop and improvise an attachment on the tripod head instead.

Needed a lightweight head/stix for carrying on backpack. These stix work pretty well for that. Definately not up to snuff for serious pro work under normal conditions, too flimsy. But small & light for backpack application is a good compromise. I won't be giving up my real stix for these.

I was looking for a lightweight and sturdy tripod for general use and in hiking expeditions. My wife and I travel from Florida to anywhere with mountains for day hikes. I just received this tripod before traveling to Colorado. Went snowshoeing with this tripod in toe. After hiking a couple of hours in the Arapahoe National Forest, I didn't even notice the weight in my pack. Set it up quickly and easily and set it in the snow with my Canon 7D and 24-105 to take a family picture. It was windy and nothing moved. Used it later that night to photograph the mountains and stars. Very sturdy in true breeze in long exposures. Also skied Keystone with it. Highly recommend this. I researched for more than 2 months before buying and glad bought this one.

I bought this tripod to hold my open-box m painting kit(8x10)for hiking into the Grand Canyon. It saves 3lbs (half the weight) of my current Bogen tri-pod.
I thought I would use it for just the 8x10 kit, it is sturdy enough for my 11x14 kit also. This will be my plein air painting tripod from here on out.
It straps to my backpack easily and the manfrotto quality is just standard.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
I bought this with a 501HDV Manfrotto head in a kit. I have a heavy duty Varizoom tripod and rent Satchlers all the time, so I think I have a pretty well rounded perspective on these things. I bought these legs to accompany my DSLR kit - a base plate/followfocus with my Canon T2i. I got tired of carrying a large tripod kit with such a mobile camera.
Construction is pretty decent, easily dinged but will probably last me for a few years.
Overall the legs perform well, and given their extremely light weight I couldn't ask for much more. Sometimes I have to stabilize them with one hand, because they do vibrate pretty easily, but honestly that's just the price you pay with this type of gear.
Definite recommendation if you do a lot of run-and-gun shooting, hiking, or hard to reach timelapses. If you are just shooting in a studio go for something more stable.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
Right out of the box I noticed the difference. Along with the Ball-Head, the 190CX3 tripod system was at least half the weight of the Manfrotto 055XDB system I'd been using the past couple years. I could carry it further in the field without having to rest before the shoot. The best surprise, however, was how incredibly stable the tripod was, after setup, from one photo exposure to the next; nothing moved in the scene, except for leaves of course twitching in the light breeze.

Comments about Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs (Black):
It's difficult to find products that have a good balance of benefits and cost. The Manfrotto 190cx3 is a no brainer especially if you are a photographer who is constantly on the go during travel or outdoor adventures. I am an avid traveler/backpacker/climber and it used to always be difficult to decide whether or not to lug along the ole 5-6 lb tripod with in addition to the generally heavy Dslr, lenses, and all it's accessories. I recently took a 2 month trip on an expedition team from South Africa to Egypt and due to lack of space I decided to use less conventional methods (rocks, roof racks, etc) to mount my camera to during those low lighting landscape opportunities. In an attempt to save on bulk and weight but that decision unfortunately resulted less than satisfactory results on my long exposure photos and time lapses. I will never make that mistake again because this tripod exceeds all my expectations for a lightweight and effective product.
One of things I enjoy the most about this tripod besides it's weight is that it packs relatively small and fit's perfectly under my backpacks compressions straps. It's also isn't so light that you have to worry that a small breeze is going to blow your expensive camera right of it's feet (a big worry when you are in a situation where camera and lens repair is hundreds of miles from your location). I like the fact that the locking legs make it super easy to balance the camera on especially stable terrain and that the tripod can get so low to the ground for macro and low perspective shots that it makes a gymnast doing a split look like a chump.
The negatives is that I feel as if Monfrotto can do a little bit more to shave off some weight while still maintaining the integrity of the tripod. The leg locks can be minimized a bit to reduce bulk but at very best that's my only complaint so far.
It's a light weight, easy to use, simple (which is best), a tool that is essential to any at home or on the go photographers gear list.

I shoot outdoor action sports which means a ton of hiking. This tripod is very light so is not horrible strapping to my pack. The legs are great when using on steep and rocky terrain, and can easily switch out different heads for different photo/video needs.
