When the cable guy hooked up this tv, he couldn't get over how great the picture is. I had to have another cable guy come when I had internet connectivity issues, and he commented on the picture as well. These guys see a lot of TVs and both said they thought this picture was exceptional. My brother bought a 52" Panasonic and I don't think the picture quality is close to the Sony XBR.

Have had this TV for two weeks now, satisfied in every way. Very simple to unpack, set-up was a breeze. Menu use is simple and straight forward, adjusting settings to personal taste was easy. After extensive research and visits to various high-def TV shops, we found the Sony XBR6 to be everything promised and more... The 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio, the "vivid" (yes, it has a vivid setting) makes the colors jump out at you and this unit even adjusts for the light levels in the room. High-def is great, but it is FANTASTIC with the Sony XBR6 model. The front firing surround speakers are a good start, but now we're planning on adding a great Sony Blu-Ray home-theater-in-a-box to go with it. Everybody who sees it is drawn in and parks in front of the screen, making comments like; "Wow! This is cool!"

The set was shipped from NY and arrived with a slightly damaged box and the stand was bent forward. Because I intended to hang it on the wall it was inconsequential to me. Otherwise the set was in perfect condition and it operated perfectly from the get go. The picture is amazingly clear and exceptional on HD. This is my first LCD and I would recommend it to anyone.
