I have only used it a few times so far, but I'm very pleased with the quality. I expected this of a Kingston product. Some people might say that its wire is too short because the wire that is built-in IS extremely short. However, they provided a nice-sized extension wire (3ft long?). I actually like this feature because it is much more travel friendly with the short, tangle-free wire.
I used it with Windows 7 and didn't have to install any drivers. It worked flawlessly. The reason I bought it was that Windows 7 was not recognizing my Canon T1i AT ALL when I would plug it in through USB. Now I can simply remove the card and plug in through the Kingston.

I purchased this Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 media reader so that I could read various card types with my 2010 Mac Pro as well as a Windows laptop. The device does its job on both platforms and considering its relatively low price, I'm mostly satisfied. There are several things potential buyers should know about, though:
First, to operate this reader you must enable it by pressing down on the tiny red Kingston logo on the top and then sliding the inner assembly about a half inch forward through its outer shell. Doing this causes a short USB data cable to pop out of its recessed slot on the rear of the unit. The cable is about 2 inches long and has a type A male USB connector on it. The reader is USB-powered and the Kingston logo flashes when the connected computer accesses the inserted card. The reader will not operate unless it's in the open position. To close the reader, you snap the short USB cable back into its slot and slide the inner assembly back into the outer shell.
Second, while the device is fairly small (about the size of small bar of facial soap), it feels cheaply made. It hasn't broken over the several weeks that I've used it, but I don't feel confident that it will last long under heavy usage.
Third, I've found that the electrical connections on this reader to be a little finicky. Once in a while when I open it and plug it into one of my computers, the attached computer fails to see the card until wiggle the inner assembly or close and re-open it with greater force.
If you're looking for a cheap, flexible reader for occasional usage, this one is worth considering. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality reader, however, look elsewhere.

I use this when traveling to back up my cards on the laptop and then to transfer the files to my desktop for processing.
This is very compact and has a slot for any card - just what I need for the different media I end up using.
It has a short stub cord that allows connection without all the extra cord, although there is an extension included. The slots are protected for travel by sliding the case over the front.
best of all, it works.

Comments about Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Media Reader:
Really a basic device. It's still working after 30 days which is surprising. I was disappointed the Sandisk card readers are discontinued. The Kinston media reader is my second card reader in three months. My last one, the GGI stopped working after 15 days. The sliding feature of the Kingston doesn't do anything of value - just another feature that will probably break as a result of cheap plastic - reason for 4 stars.

This is a good compact card reader with slots for every size card. The USB connection fits snugly in the back, within the plastic housing so there are no cords to get tangled up. I use this to transfer RAW files from my CF cards to my laptop. It's a good basic card reader for a very inexpensive price.
The cards connect easily in the appropriate slot and a red light indicates that it is connected and transferring the data. NIce design, simple, basic and does the job nicely.

I love this thing. It is compact, so it fits in my bag to transport and it is useful all over the place. I use it to upload multiple CF cards and instead of an hour like it did with my camera, it only takes like 10 mins. It is super fast and wonderful. easy to use. I use this for weddings, headshots, basically everything I shoot. I am a professional photographer and I shoot a lot of different things.

I love everything about this reader. I am able to just take the card out of my camera and plug it into the reader and it quickly uploads the pictures. I am also able to upload the pictures from my phone camera which the card is EXTREMELY small. I would reccommend this to others.

Comments about Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Media Reader:
I used it to transfer HD videos from my DSLR camera. Only after a week of use it no longer reads the cards. You basically get what you pay for. The cheapness shows: cheap plastic, cheap mechanism and cheap design... I only bought this after I lost my more expensive brand name card reader. Didn't want to cough up more money - but ended up wasting a good burger's worth!

I was hesitant about getting a card reader because I've always been fine just plugging my camera directly into my computer, but I'm glad I spent the few bucks for this, makes everything easier to do and much faster to boot. I have this in my bag at all times for a speedy download between quarters at a sporting event. Definitely worth it.
