This thing is awesome! I've not been able to stop playing with it since I got it! It can play all my FLAC files with EASE, and it sounds absolutely GORGEOUS compared to every other player I have EVER listened to. The interface is elegant, yet simple. The Price is absolutely RIGHT, too - Why pay for a name like APPLE or CREATIVE when you can get more features from Meizu?
The video quality is stunning on even such a small screen, the picture viewer on this thing is magnificent, and on top of that, the battery life is WELL OVER 20 hours. I got 28 hours of CONTINOUS playback! I was astounded!
Get this product -- it is, without question or exception, the most bang-for-your buck you can get!

We have 3 Dane-Elec Meizu units. Two are the 2Gb version and one is the 4Gb version. The Good:Nice video with good sound. Lasts around 3 hours. Our kids love watching video on it. The screen is small but not too small. The Bad:Converting a file for the player can be a hassle and has varying results. 1. It may work perfectly first time. 2. It might freeze when it starts to play (this seems to be a problem with the first frame only as when you fast forward it past the beginning before it starts playing it continues fine) 3. It freezes the unit without any fix. 4. It plays but resets when you try to forward the video so you have to watch it from beginning to end without touching anything. In general I have managed to get around these problems by using freeware conversion tools and converting to wmv and then to avi and then to the format for the player for those video files giving me trouble. With the exception of 1 video this has worked. That one video has had me spend plenty of time converting without getting around the problem (problem number 4 listed above). There are procedures you can find on the net for what to do if your player turns in to a brick (something that happened to our 4Gb meizu player and has not yet been fixed) but it is also all a hassle with no guaranteed results.Updating the firmware is a hassle. The Ugly:If something happens to your unit forcing you to rely on the warranty, do not expect Dane-Elec Meizu to honor it. They have an F rating with the BBB and 12 complaints (10 unanswered - I have not filed mine yet - see [...]. For our 4Gb unit which we could not return to [...] I emailed and called meizu without any results. They do not respond - but I expected this after researching the warranty issue on the web already. I am happy with the working units though, but having zero warranty would be a deal killer for me had I known of the problem in advance.

-POSITIVE-
Perfect for listening to while working out, jogging, or even to use to help you sleep.
Pops up as a flash drive on your PC. No need for iTunes or WinAmp. Simply use Windows Explorer to transfer files.
This is the third MEIZU that I've purchased (1st one on recommendation by a friend), the last two to replace iPoods.
-NEUTRAL-
The battery lasts only about as long as you would expect for something this small...but my first MEIZU battery is a few years old now, and it still holds a charge.
-NEGATIVE-
I didn't care for the earphones, but decent earbuds are cheap.

pros: slim, good sound quality despite a little bit too much bass, big screen.

Overly sensitive touch pad. But nice and compact. Nice-sized screen for video. Downside, you have to convert all video to their specifications otherwise the player won't read it. Sometimes, my computer doesn't recognize the player. I have to plug it and unplug it from the USB port a few times before it recognizes it. Don't know whether it's the player or my computer. Nice that it can be used as a recorder. Good sound from the recorder. I put lots of video and music onto the player and have an hour's worth of recording, and it's only half full. Overall its serves my purpose, so it's a good value for the price.

I got this player for my girlfriend. She loves it. It's very easy to add files to it, both from her windows computer, and my Linux machine. She did say that setting up playlists is a little complicated. I haven't had the chance to look into that myself. We did have one issue with it freezing up ("green screen"). We did some searching around on the web and found that this problem is fixed by downloading firmware and just copying it into the root directory of the player. It was a simple fix, just go to [@] to download the firmware, not [@].. unless of course you can read Japanese. Other than that one easily corrected hiccup, we've been very pleased with this player.

Ipod shmy pod this is the best mp4 player for the money hands down. Works like a usb drive, just drag and drop your files. No Itunes nonsense, use it on as many computers as you like.

Good all around player - excellent built, sound and FM tuner quality, optimal size and touch controls (all better then iPod Nano). Plays .flac files (my main reason to buy it over other brands)
The price with the coupon is great.
What's lacking - user interface is rudimentary if not weird, especially FM tuner. Video is just a gimmick for all practical purposes - every common format needs to be controverted to be playable by Meizu which is a shame because the screen is really nice and the demo video looks great.

Bought this to hook up to the car seeing as I only had a single CD player. The sound was perfect and it holds plenty of music. I also used the FM tuner during the last hurricane when all the power went out. I plugged in two small speakers that I found for 6 bucks at a local dollar store. I was without power for 20 hours and had it tuned to the news the whole time. Never ran out of power but it was getting close.

I have used this product every day since I got it. The battery life is amazing, sound quality is very good as is the video quality. Controls take some getting used to but other than that a great buy for me. I will be buying another one in the next 2 weeks for my girlfriend as she fell in love with mine.

I have been playing with it for over a week, tried mp3's and mp4 movies. So far, I love this little device. It comes with a very good form factor, intuitive user interface, solid sound quality, crispy display etc.. I also converted a DVD movie all by myself, using the video converter from the kit and following the instructions. I haven't got any serious complaints about it yet. One convenient thing to have is somewhere centralized correctly-converted video source for downloading.

I listen to a lot of music formats from singer songwriters. This little drive handles them all. The size and the playback quality were better than I expected. Navigation can take some getting used to, but then again, I didn't read the manual yet.
