The Panasonic 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6 Leica D Vario-Elmar Aspherical MEGA O.I.S. Lens is an interchangeable standard-zoom lens, developed by Leica exclusively for digital SLR cameras, and follows the Four Thirds Standard. This means that the lens is also interchangeable with other manufacturers that use this format.
By incorporating the MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) feature and 2 aspherical and 2 ED elements, this lens makes it possible to capture clear, sharp images, edge to edge, even in macro shooting or low-lit situations. This provides users with a wide range of shooting flexibility.

Comments about Panasonic 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6 Vario-Elmar Aspherical MEGA O.I.S. Lens for Four Thirds System:
i just received this lens and its amazing. i've seen very little info about this lens from review sites, and comparing reviews between this 4/3 and pany's m4/3 14-45 kit led me to believe they would be similar, but that is not the case. this lens is sharper, with better contrast and though spec'ed to be slightly slower, seems faster on my gh1. i would say it rivals the 20mm and 14mm pancakes in sharpness, both primes that i shoot extensively with. really glad i picked it up. though 2x bigger than the m4/3 kit, this will be my main walk around lens going forward. i see why they put the leica name on it - definitely a step above.

Comments about Panasonic 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6 Vario-Elmar Aspherical MEGA O.I.S. Lens for Four Thirds System:
I must start by stating this lens is as sharp as the Olympus 12-60 mm F2.8-4 ED SWD. The images produced with are simply superb. I have used both lens and preffer the Lecia. If you desire razor sharp images from a lens, this is a must have for all 4/3 users. The flare and chromatic abrreation control are outstanding. The image stablilation producted sharp images at 1/6 of a second. The optics of this lens are truly amazing !!!
Comments about Panasonic 14-50mm f/3.8-5.6 Vario-Elmar Aspherical MEGA O.I.S. Lens for Four Thirds System:
This lens is mounted on my L10. I compared this lens to a Leica R 28-90mm Asph mounted on an R6 with Fuji Provia 400X film.
This lens was sharper faster and produced an image every bit as good and better than its mega expensive R lens cousin of equivalent focal length.
The image stabilization makes up for the slow speed and can be used hand held even in low light down to 1/10th of a second with minimal (read not noticeable) blur.
The Panasonic L10 platform it comes with relies heavily on its Silkypix software. Together both camera, lens and software can produce magical images that are as good as any print film and gives slide film a real run for its money. Don't pass this lens up because of its slow speed, it will taken on f2.8 lenses with aplomb. Try it.
