The Casio Exilim EX-Z9 Digital Camera is compact and simple-to-use with a 3x optical zoom that is equal to 37.5 - 112.5mm in 35mm terms and incorporates cutting-edge technologies - all in an incredibly slim camera that exhibits an excellent balance of superior functionality and stylish, compact design. - The CCD Image sensor of the Exilim EX-Z9 supplies a rich 8.1 million pixels of full color brilliance and detail. Such high resolution photos give you the advantage that you can print them out in excellent quality or edit them on the computer. This means that enlargement of details and poster size photos are possible.
- 3x Optical Zoom Lens
- Though the EX-Z9 is as slim as your little finger, yet it features a 3x optical zoom lens so you can capture the details of your scene or get a tight close up.
- 2.6" Wide-Screen Display
- The 2.6-inch (6.6 cm) wide-screen TFT color display of the EX-Z9 is so large and wide that it takes up almost the entire rear side of the camera, and provides a clear view of your images and video clips.
- Best Shot Scene Modes
- The cameras Best Shot scene modes enable selection of the appropriate camera setting for still photos via an easy to understand sample image menu, so you'll be able to take beautiful pictures, regardless of the shooting situation or your particular photography expertise. Simply select the sample scene that resembles the type of image you are trying to record and the camera is configured automatically with the applicable recording mode, Auto Focus setting, and more.
- Easy Mode
- The Easy Mode simplifies the camera settings to three easy menus (image size, flash and self-timer). With Easy Mode, the camera is set to take great photos in every situation without having to check presets and prevents users from accidentally using an inapporpriate setting or making a wrong adjustment.
- Face Detection System
- The Face Detection system ensures that, once the focus locks on to a person's face, it will stay sharp and maintain the right exposure, even if the person moves; thereby making it much easier to capture beautiful portraits.
- Enhanced Quick Responsiveness
- Once powered on, the camera is ready to take pictures in approximately 1 second, and after the shutter is snapped, pictures are taken almost instantly, with only 0.008 second release time lag. The "Direct On" buttons allow quick startup of both shooting and viewing modes, and the camera also has High-speed image viewing at approximately 0.1 seconds intervals.
- Movie Mode and Audio Record
- The EX-Z9 is able to Record movies with sound at broadcast quality using the AVI Motion JPEG standard and can continue recording at lower resolution as long as there is memory available. The camera can also produce an audio snapshot (with audio recorded at the same time as the image or added later), and is equipped with a Voice Recorder feature.
- Capture Mode For YouTube
- The capture mode for YouTube records high quality video with higher compression for fast uploading and includes an exclusive software application that makes it seamless to upload movies to YouTube in as few as two steps. This technology will also allow users to upload multiple videos at once, making it easier than ever before to share original content online.
- Built-in and Expandable Memory
- The EX-Z9 has 18.6 MB of internal memory so you can start shooting immediately. The storage capacity can also be greatly expanded with a Secure Digital (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) or MultiMediaCard (MMC), so you can save large numbers of photos and record movies in excess of an hour or more in duration.
- Super-Life Battery
- The EX-Z9 is extremely efficient in its power usage and includes a high capacity NP-60 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery which provides so much power, that the camera is ready for use at that decisive moment and takes up to 200 shots on a full charge.
- Direct Print Capable
- The EX-Z9 supports PictBridge Direct printing so you can print out beautiful images with out the need of a computer. Just connect the camera to a PictBrige compatible printer and print your favorite pictures the way you want them - it is that easy.

This camera is perfect for the regular user, it is not a high enough quality camera for a professional. However, it is perfect for me. I only use it to take pictures for fun - at gatherings or on vacation. It is very easy to use, very intuitive. It is a great value and I would say a better camera than compared to others in its price range (My last camera was a Nikon Coolpix).
Only two complaints is that there's this "delete all" button that I think is a little too easily accessible... (when you go to delete one picture, in the same list as "delete" "cancel" is "delete all", I could imagine someone pressing that unintentionally). Another complaint is that this camera is quite compact... I know that is the point, its supposed to be compact, but it feels small in my girly hands, my boyfriend would have a really hard time holding it without getting his fingers in the lens or pressing a random button or on the screen...

Among all our family members, this is the 5th point and shoot we've purchased. We have not had it long, but it is extremely user friendly and easy to use. As with most cameras that don't use disposable batteries, it would be nice for the camera to come with two as when one dies you cannot use it until it is recharged. I also prefer cameras with an external charger so if you do have two batteries, you can continue to use the camera while charging the spare. You ask, Should I buy it? I say absolutely! You ask from B&H? And I again say, Absolutely!!!! Great product from a great retailer!
