The Eee PC 2G Surf Notebook Computer from ASUS is a tiny computer, designed with ultraportability in mind. The two pound system is an ideal traveling companion. Its 7" screen is perfect for watching videos when traveling, and its solid-state hard disk won't be damaged by bumps and shocks. It features standard 802.11g Wi-Fi, allowing you to hop on to wireless networks and hotspots with ease.

The computer runs a custom installation of Linux, designed by Asus. It includes Internet tools, office applications, media players, and games. The 2GB hard drive may be a bit on the svelte side, but there is a standard Secure Digital memory card slot on the computer. This allows you to load and play music, videos, and images with ease.

The Eee PC is an excellent choice for the road warrior who requires very basic computer functionality. It will allow you to check e-mail, perform basic office tasks, watch videos, and play games. Most importantly, it won't weigh down your luggage when you're on the road.

The Eee PC includes several Internet applications. These include a Web Mail client, the Firefox web browser, an instant message client, and Skype. It also features a convenient tool to manage wireless networks, allowing you to hop onto an open hotspot when you are on the go.

• Office Tools

OpenOffice 2.0 is installed on the system, allowing you to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and presentations. OpenOffice is a free, open source, office suite. Its look and feel will be familiar to longtime users of Microsoft Office. Adobe Reader is also included, allowing you to view PDF documents.

• Learning Tools

The Eee PC embraces learning, with a complete suite of tools that will help you broaden your mental horizons. You can browse the Periodic Table of Elements, tour a virtual planetarium, and solve math problems.

• Games and Media

No computer is complete without games. The Eee PC comes with solitaire, Frozen Bubble, Crack Attack, Penguin Racer, Sudoku, L Tris, and Potato Guy. It also features a robust media player that allows you to watch videos, listen to music, or look at pictures.

• Storage Expansion via SD

The system includes an SDHC memory card slot. This slot can read and write data on SD, SDHC, and MMC cards. These memory cards, which are used in most digital cameras, are very small, and can hold up to 16GB of data.
