Comments about Sony GPS-CS1KASP GPS Unit - for Digital Photo & Video Cameras:
I've had the GPS-CS1 for years, and it works great. I've traveled quite a bit, and I think it's a blast to geotag my images, and then be able to look at them on a map later.
It does take a bit of work to get the images "synced" up correctly, but once you do, you'll be able to see exactly where your images were taken.
If I'm wearing a backpack, I always clip it to the top of it, turn it on, and don't think about it until the end of the day. Otherwise, it seems to work pretty well clipped onto the rear-most belt buckle on my jeans.
Doesn't work well at all indoors, but if you set it near a window, it seems to work just fine.

I attach this GPS receiver to the strap of my camera bag using the supplied carrier. After turning on, it'll find the satellites after about 5 minutes of searching (compared to a Garmin Nuvi, which takes about 30 seconds, if it's still in the same general area as it was when it got the last fix). The receiver is not very sensitive, so, like others have stated, it'll not work well indoors even when near windows, and even has trouble inside a vehicle, unless it's right on the dash. But, outside, with an unobstructed view of the sky, it works like a champ. I use Downloader Pro from [@] to download my images from the Canon 5D mk II and automatically geo tag them with the GPS data. I can then click on the images in BreezeBrowser (also from [@]) and it'll show me where the photo was taken, and even create a web page with Google Maps!

I've used this for a couple of travel shoots, and it works great in those capacities. It gets a good lock on satellites in the first couple of minutes, and has very good battery life. The unit writes to a standard log file that works in most 3rd party geotagging applications.
Unfortunately, I've found it impossible to get a signal lock when used indoors, even when positioned near an open window with good sky view.
While initially happy with this product, I'll be looking at the Nikon GP-1 when it's released for a fully integrated geotagging solution.

I use this this product when I travel with friends for a photoshoot. It's quite compact and has decent battery life. The software that comes with it is simple and easy to use. Though not as accurate as I was expecting it to be, it's still worth it.
