Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
Being a teacher, I often get ideas in the middle of a lesson about how I might enhance that lesson or develop a quick assessment to judge the effectiveness of the lesson. Previously, I would have to use my rather slow inkjet which would frequently require ink cartridge replacement. Now that the parents of one of my students gave me a gift of $500 with which I bought this color Laser Multi-Function machine, I can run many class sets of whatever I want and I don't have to worry so much about running out of ink or toner. The 9840 is quick and QUIET! The only slight irritation is the time it takes for the scanning lamp to warm up. Otherwise, I'm happy to have purchased this for less than $500 every time I think of my first B&W laser printer at about $1000!

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
I am loving this printer which I am using in a small, but busy, law firm.
The ease of setting it up was amazing and it has done exactly what I need since it was installed.
The problem this printer has, which all similar Brother products seem to have, is printing envelopes. It crushes and mangles them.
Thankfully, I use labels for mailing, most of the time. For those times I need to printe envelopes, I have a small laser printer which works just fine.
Highly recommend this printer/scanner/fax machine.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
The setup needs some clearer instructions and I'm a person who would rather have a full manual than a manual on CD. Other than that, I'm satisfied with its performance and would recommend it to others.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a small, 2-person office, and love the convenience of an all-in-one. Have been using the MFC-8460N for years and was always pleased with it, so when I decided to upgrade to a color laser machine the 9840CDW was the first one I looked at. Only drawback is that this machine prints considerable slower than the 8460N, even in black and white.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
I've only had the printer for a week, but so far it's great. It does everything it's advertised to do smoothly and with excellent print quality. My wife's an elementary school teacher so our frequency of use and print volumes are high. Duplex is already saving us a ton on paper and wireless is worth every penny. Wireless set up was fairly straightforward. Just make sure you disable any firewalls on your computer before you start the install. We've had Brother before and the long-term reliability has been good, though some of the plastic parts are flimsy (the document feeder tray in particular). Only real negative is the toner cost. Buying a full set of high capacity OEM cartridges costs as much as a new machine. Ridiculous! If you have high print volumes, plan on spending time looking for high quality "refurbished" cartridges or refill kits.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
Small to meduim size office use--excellent. Super reliable, and you get way more pages per ink cartridge than the HP comparable (1200 for this size Brother, comparable HP gives you only 700!). B&H has the best price I could find and I spent 2 weeks looking. [...]an outstanding price! Does Great color prints. The only compliant might be that it takes a good 30-40 seconds to come out of sleep mode before printing a job.

I have only had it up and running for two weeks, but it has been great so far. Set up was a snap, includding the wireless functions.
Only con so far is that it is very big and very heavy. Be sure you have adequate space for this thing.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
Used in home office. Fairly fast printing, color is fine for quick prints but quality is not photo - quality, although most lasers are a little rough here. Overall a nice all in one. The setup is a little complicated and the directions leave a bit to be desired but the quality of the product appears to be great.

Comments about Brother MFC-9840CDW Color Laser Multi-Function Center with Wireless/Duplex:
After hours of research I finally pulled the trigger on the MFC-9840, and after having it a couple weeks I'm glad I did. Our home supports my graphic design consultancy plus a second home office for my wife, so the bundle of features was very appealing to us -- especially running it all over the existing wireless network. The size and footprint is about what I expected and I have ours sitting on a small cabinet in my office. It warms up quickly and is extremely quiet. Printing from Mac or Windows is no problem and I was knocked out at being able use the scanner and send the image over the wireless to my computer. The thing *is* heavy so take care unpacking it, but Brother did a good job making set up as easy as possible. They're the only company around that offers this combination of features for the price and I think they've got a real winner on their hands.

Fast, great clarity. Oddly sometimes the cyan is a little strong but I am not sure if it is a printer issue, toner issue or a software issue. Makes my logo much more vibrant so not a problem. ;0)

This printer is very flexible and easy to use once it is properly setup. Wireless setup is challenging, [...] Printing and scanning are fast and clear. I have this printer for personal use, so the only con I can think of is its weight.

After the drum is gone just buy new machine and keep the old one for parts. The printer is usually good for about two to three years. I think the whole marketing scheme is in the sale of the toners and the drum. You can also get some extra life out of the toners by resetting the toner counter.
