Brother P-Touch PT-2700 Electronic Labeling System
The Brother P-Touch PT-2700 Electronic Labeling System can be used as a portable labeler, or can be connected to a Computer. It has a huge, back-light display (16-characters x 3 lines) for easy viewing, and is designed for professional users in a business office, medical office, and retail/commercial or industrial facilities. The PT-2700 can print up to 7 lines, in 8 font sizes and 12 type styles. It also provides over 100 different symbols and 19 frame styles to jazz up your labels, plus you can store 99 labels to memory plus it can automatically add Time & Date information from the units built in clock to your labels for time-sensitive applications.
The PT-2700 operates on the included AC adapter or 8 AA batteries (optional), and includes a starter black and white laminated TZ tape, USB Interface cable, Software CD-ROM, user's manual and warranty.

This labeler is unbeatable for the price. I have used these at work for years without any issues and now bought one for home use due to the quality and value.
Great for labeling servers, racks, bins, folders, outdoor stuff, etc. Easily prints barcodes without PC connection. Comes with power supply and USB cable for PC interface. For the price it works well as a cable labeler, although significantly higher priced cable labelers best it here.
As mentioned in other reviews, some label is wasted when using the minimum margin setting; but only on the first copy. This is an insignificant setback for all the features provided.

Using this to label cables for video and computer equipment with flexible 1/2" labels. Using the paper labels for file folders. Able to switch label cartridges back and forth so I don't waste flex labels on paper. Also set for multiple copies, saving label tape. Clear and readable, and the spreadsheet application makes it easier to get labels made from database.

You can make labels 5 times faster with this table top model than you can with the hand held unit. Labels are easy to load. The included software is very easy to use. The automatic cutter is a great feature.

I've always been happy with P-Touch labelers, but in the past I've used the cheaper version you can find for $10 or $20 on sale. After reading some Lifehacker posts, I bumped up to the PT-2700 to make better use of tape and forgo batteries, and it's been a great experience. Like with my printer and other productivity tools, this is another example of me being happy spending money up front to eliminate replacements, decrease consumables use, and give me a better day-to-day experience.
