Love our new 47" Vizio HDTV, but at a crowded superbowl party we found there just wasn't enough sound. I wanted a high quality external sound bar that was small in size and reasonable in price. I found it. The Sony HT-CT100 is an excellent addition. You barely see its there, but you sure can hear the difference. Plenty of volume and booming bass if you like that effect. Perfect for movies and music. External woofer box is small in size and easily sits below eye level next to the furniture. My biggest complaint is with poor documentation. Since I am using this unit with non-Sony TV, the instruction manual is not clear about what features are available and how they are accessed. It works fine and I'm happy, but I'd like to know how the unit interfaces with non-Sony TVs. I easily figured out connections. But the remote is a little complex. If Sony cares about after market additions to other TV brands (and it should since there is no comparible unit in the price range) the documentation needs to be improved. But don't get me wrong, I love this sound system. It performs as promised, simulated surround sound, excellent frequency response, the works. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants more and better sound from an HDTV without a big price and a large clunky sound bar.

I live in a condo and I wanted something powerfull but not powerfull enough to get my neigbours out of their house. This turn out to be the perfect fit for me. The design is nice, sound quality very good, overall I am really happy with my purchase.

I use this sound bar for everything (music, movies, sports, etc.) and it provides great sound for the price! 3 of my friends also have the same sound bar and love it. The only things that I don't like is that I have a Panasonic TV and DVD player so I can't utilize all the features the sound bar/remote offer since it's only compatible with other Sony products. I also expected it to get a little louder before it maxes out, but overall it's sweet. Can't beat the price/qaulity.

Good for the requirements I had which is better sound for my TV without a bunch of speakers and wires all over the room in the condo. Wife loves the sleek look of the soundbar while the subwoofer is what it is.
Much better sound than the TV but definitely not a true 5.1 surround sound. I had read numerous reviews so my expecations had been managed and therefore am pleased with the product.
Would have been nice to have an equalizer of some sort.

I bought this Sony soundbar for use in the bedroom where I wanted an upgrade over my standard TV speakers without a full blown surround system. Overall, I would describe the sound quality as excellent. Deep rich bass and full high and mid-range. I use it for cable viewing and DVD's. I've read other reviews that claim the center channel is low, but I find that depends on the film and can be adjusted for better performance by selecting a different sound field. For the money, this is a great system.

I received this just a few days ago. I got everything set up and turned on only to find that the max volume is not even as loud as my factory included built-in speakers on my plasma. It's "max volume" is ridiculously low. I've double checked that it's nothing to do with my TV settings, or anything I did wrong during the installation, and I feel pretty certain that it's just the system itself. It's going back.

The set up is easy. But the sound from the sound system is delayed. Thus you will hear duplicate sound from TV and Sound system. You have to turn off the TV sound volume to avoid this. I returned this system after a week, going to shop for another sound system.

I have a full surround sound system in my media room but I just bought a 50" Plasma for the family room. I didn't want all the wires and speakers in there but the TV speakers were just not good enough. This is a very good sounding system for the money. Sure, it's not true surround sound and it's not as cool as the $1,000 Yamaha Sound Bar but I'm very happy with my choice.

This is a nice system, especially for a Bedroom, or a small room. NOT Surround Sound, but gives a nice balanced front Stereo image. EASY to set up, with the HDMI inputs. I also own a Bose 321 system and the simulated surround image, and Bass is much better.

Just what I was looking for and it exceeded my expectations. Looking for a simple system to improve on the TV speakers (32" COBY HDTV/DVD Combo). The TV is located in a small bedroom and I didn't want to mess with the wires associated with a full audio system. Simple set-up, discreet speaker profile, nice sound. A huge improvement on the TV's speakers. I also have an Xbox 360 connected which sounds great. With the TV's integrated DVD player I simply ran an optical cable from the TV to the SW unit and all works seamlessly. My only complaints would be that there is no on-screen display and you are limited to select sound fields without the ability to fine tune audio settings. Otherwise I'm very pleased with the unit and would highly recommend it.

I am a young dad and don't have a lot of time to fuss around with technology setup, also can't have lots of wires everywhere. The setup for the ht-ct100 was amazing, one hdmi cord from bluray to back of subwoofer, one hdmi cord from back of subwoofer to back of hdtv. We don't have a theatre room or anything so the acoustics are far from perfect in terms of the room size, shape and materiality, but this system really fills it with full audio that I was surprised to hear. For this price I am extremely happy with the results.
