The Profoto Zoom Reflector 2 is a smoother, more accurate reflector, with an integrated grid holder that accepts Profoto grids directly -- no more need for the expensive extra grid holder.

The light from the new reflector is smoother yet more precise; the fall-off is more even, the dynamic range bigger, the stray light almost completely eliminated.

An optional protection cap -- the Zoom Cap -- fits on top of the reflector, even if it's holding a grid or if the reflector is mounted on a lamp head.

Comments about Profoto Zoom Reflector 2:

Has all the benefits reported by others, but sorry Profoto, you don't get five stars for designing a product which only takes slightly non-standard size grids. You can buy a set of 4 grids from other brands for much less than a single Profoto grid. The Profoto grids aren't any better, but Profoto designs their reflectors to be slightly larger so that the other brands don't fit.

Comments about Profoto Zoom Reflector 2:

I use this reflector on the Profoto 600R monolight because it will take the grid. I needed to narrow the light. It does just what it says it will do.

Comments about Profoto Zoom Reflector 2:

Pros: Aside from the smoother falloff compared to the original zoom reflector and eliminating the donut-hole effect seen with the original at some positions, the new reflector takes grids without the hassle of a grid holder or barndoors. If you own the old Profoto grids for the zoom reflector barndoors, they will also fit on this reflector (7" grids do not fit, however).

Cons: A little expensive, but for the convenience it's probably worth it.
