The Bull Shoals Field Station operates a remote weather station in Kirbyville, MO for Missouri State University. I recently changed to a new laptop for data downloads which had no serial port to connect to the data logger. I ordered this cable adapter to join the data logger through a USB port to my new laptop. After installing the included software I was again up and running using the new laptop in place of the old. Great cable!

I bought the adapter to connect my weather station to the new PC running Windows 7.
The adapter driver (current version) was the apparent cause of frequent (daily+) Blue Screens of Death. Since the driver was uninstalled, no problems.
I also had USB port dropout. The adapter/driver is not necessarily the cause of this.
Best option is to install a serial port card. If you have to use a USB/Serial adapter, get one with an integral ferrite core. The ferrite core will reduce interference which might cause the USB port dropout.

I use a laptop to control my multimedia media presentations. I got a newer laptop and it did not have the serial port connection on it. I needed a quick and simple solution and the USB to Serial DB9 Adapter fit the bill. Have used it several times since I got it a few weeks ago.

Don't buy this if you intend to use it with a mac (no support).
Otherwise this was perfect for me, got my ancient pen plotter running in no time

This product performed without a hitch. It is used between an RS-232 cable and a computer s USB port.
This in turn operates a Celestron tele scope.

This is a great solution for systems without a serial port or if you need an extra. I use this to connect to my Cisco device consoles.
Well built to withstand my abuse of tossing it around and in the bottom of my backpack and it works like a champ. Easy to install, easy to use!
