With the Panasonic DMW-MCTZ5 Marine Case Underwater Housing for the Panasonic DMC-TZ5, DMC-TZ4, DMC-TZ11 and DMC-TZ15, you can use your digital camera to take underwater photos at depths of up to 130' (40 m). It is also ideal for taking worry-free pictures in the rain, at the beach, or on the ski slopes.
A diffuser for the camera's flash is built onto the housing. This helps when using the camera's internal flash. For better results underwater, use the internal flash to trigger a slaved external strobe like those made by Fantasea, Sea & Sea, Ikelite, or Sealife. The camera has an underwater mode setting for available light photography.

I purchased this underwater camera case especially to take pictures during our snorkeling trip in the Bahamas. My first surprise when trying it out at home (not underwater) was that the pictures taken with the housing are as great as without. And then, during our snorkeling trip, the pictures were also terrific. It was particularly awesome to get video of the sharks circling beneath us! We spend a lot of time in the summer at the lake, beach and on the boat. Knowing that the pics are as good with the casing on the camera means that I can keep the casing on all the while we are at the beach or on the boat and it will remain safe from the dreaded grain of sand in the lens mechanism or spray from the boat!

This review is very preliminary...
We ordered this to take on our trip to the Bahamas...can't wait to capture some of the fantastic snorkeling moments in pictures! While we haven't tested it yet underwater, for anyone looking to purchase this for perhaps their spring break, I share the following: I am impressed with the creative way it provides an external connection to each and every control...whether it slides, swivels, pushes in, etc. It holds the camera so securely; build quality seems very solid. I did take several pictures around the house and the picture quality is awesome...I wouldn't be able to tell the difference with and without the case. (I am not a professional photographer, but am "pretty in to it".) In addition to being able to use it underwater, I am very happy knowing that my camera will be protected from the sand at the beach, water spray on the boat, etc. With the amount of time we spend at the lake and on the water, this is a real plus! I will report back after our trip with how it makes out underwater...but I am anticipating a lot of positive.

Family cruise to Mexico and Cayman Islands in May 2011.[...] we used it for our dive trips. Took it to 45' deep and had no issues, it was perfect. I strongly recommend this case if you have the same camera as me. Very well constructed and durable case. No need to buy an underwater camera.

I purchased this case for a trip I just took and it was everything I expected and more. I was able to take amazing pictures and underwater video with my camera because of this case. It was totally air/water tight and my digital camera was 100% protected. It even works well out of the water but be sure to change the setting on your camera from underwater before you use it. The white balance auto is not very useful so be sure to have a very good photo edit software program so you can make the underwater pics look like they should. Overall, I would highly recommend this case to anybody looking for a much better option than a disposable underwater camera. One of the best features is is it good to 130 feet and other underwater digital cameras are only good to 35 feet. Well worth the money.

Took this on a cruise vacation to Mexico and did some snorkeling in Cozumel. Not only did I get some amazing pictures underwater, but I didn't have to take the housing off till we got back to the ship and the "above water" pics turned out great also. Make sure you test the seal before actual use.

I just got this before we went for holidays in Italy. Checked for leakage before I put the camera in, no problem! Took some pictures and video and it expands the usage of the camera to a great extend. Can't wait to bring it for scubadiving. I am considering buying an external flash though. First I will, however, try it without the camera down to 30 metres. It will by no means replace a pro underwater camera, but at the cost it is great value!

I bought the MARINE CASE WATERPROOF f/DMC-TZ5/TZ4 together with the Lumix DMC-TZ5 in order to use it on the water while sailing. This is a perfect match.
