The DMW-LMC46 Multi-Coated Protector Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. A Protector Filter is probably the most popular filter people use. As a lens protector, it should be left on at all times to guard against front element damage.
A Protector Filter is the best available protection for the front element of your lens. A lens that accidentally gets dropped on its front element while hiking can potentially be saved by purchasing this item. Some people refer to it as "cheap insurance".

Comments about Panasonic DMW-LMC46 Multi-Coated Protector Filter for Lumix Cameras:
Although a fraction more expensive than others this filter, so far, has worked like a charm. I have not seen any of the lens flare that others have complained about with cheaper filters. A must have with this great lens.

I use this filter to protect my FZ35 camera lens when I do not use the lens shade but I leave it on all the time and just forget about it!

Comments about Panasonic DMW-LMC46 Multi-Coated Protector Filter for Lumix Cameras:
The filter fits on my Lumix lens, thus providing me with some protection against damage. The glass is clear and does not negatively impact image quality. Despite the multi-coating, the glass still creates flaring when pointed toward a light-source--noticeably more flaring than the lens alone produces, but not as much as that resulting from lower priced filters.

To protect the front element on the Camera. We shoot in the desert in very dusty conditions so this is a must.

I bought this in conjunction with the Panasonic 20mm micro four-thirds lens and it does an excellent job of protecting it. It does exactly what I intended it to do.

I choose Pana lmc46 cos the multi coasted with the cheapper price than B+W 46mm protetive filter. there are so many protective filter fit my gf1 20mm f1.7 len but only sigle coasted. By the way, I am the beginner.

If you have decided to spend a hundreds of dollars for a lens it is wise to protect it by a UV protector filter. But it has to be made from a good, transparent glass and Panasonic DMW-LMC46 fulfill that expectationI have also DMW-LMC52 for my other lens which is great too. Those filters were purchased at the B@H Photo Video store [...]It was the only internet store which have both filters in stock. Thank you guys!

This lens protector is the perfect solution to lens protection. It's essential for outdoor photo shoots in gritty environments. Has a very secure fit to the Leica lens of the Lumix, is easily cleaned and causes no color distortions or anomalies. Has no drawbacks that I can tell.
I can't believe I didn't purchase this item at the same time as the camera. It should be first on the list of accessories.

This is the manufacturer's own protective filter, which I bought for my Lumix FZ35. It's well made and multi coated. Be aware, though, that it does not provide UV filtering - I don't understand why Panasonic chose not to incorporate this[...]

OEM ND8 filter, made in Japan, great price... you can't go wrong with this if you use your camera for outdoor shots or for using a slower shutter-speed.
