Zeiss Lens Hood for 50mm f/1.5 C Sonnar ZM Lens
This dedicated Zeiss Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with the 50mm f/1.5 C Sonnar lens.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

This lens is best used by those who are Bokeh aware. For me, an image, whether it be a watercolor, pastel or oil, consists not only of the primary subject but the background as well. Both must be crafted. This lens will give you beautifully rendered out of focus distant lights or hi-lites. If you want bright objects or colored lights in your background, it's either this lens or the Summilux. Front focusing is a characteristic of this lens so this too must be managed intelligently. Having said that, perfect focus is rarely the point of a dramatic image. Enjoy, I finally bought this lens after taking the most cherished images of my friends and family in available low-light, at which it excels.

This hood is built like a rock, but it's really light and fits just perfect.
it detaches perfectly too. Just press a bit on to the lens and twist it. It feels great.
When in use, the perforations help greatly to minimize finder blockage.
I'm glad I bought it.
