Easy to open/close and to operate, the PHR-S250CC external drive enclosure will fit any 2,5 inches sata hard drive, either a brand new one or the one who comes out of your laptop. Firewire-400 it is faster and more reliable than Usb-2.0 for fast media transfer as required for editing video. The enclosure has two Firewire ports and Firewire disks can be put in a chain, aka you can plug several disks to one another.
It is good to have also a Usb 2 connection for the time you find yourself with a Pc without Firewire.
The blue-red lights on the front are very noticeable, the case is not the slimmest but very robust and looks serious.
A solid product.

Pros : USB and Firewire connectors, USB speed transfer its good.
Cons : status light its to Bright, Firewire speed its suppose to be faster than usb but no with this enclosure. example when writing from my pc using usb cable the transfer speed gets up to 28mb with Firewire I only get 5mb or 7 if I'm lucky.

Just upgraded the drives in my laptop and moved them into these enclosures as I wanted faster availability. Found that I could daisy chain two drives using firewire connections which really cuts down on the need for extra ports. I like these so much I'm going to order 2-more and cannibalize the drives from 2-external WD Passports to make them faster as well.

I replaced my MacBook's hard drive, and this helped get important files onto the new one. I also love its multiple firewire ports for daisy chaining. My only gripe is its tight fit, which scraped off a bit of my hard drive's label. It's ATA/IDE predecessor did not do this. Overall, it's still great.

I got this to accommodate the HDDs that came out of my MacBook Pro when I replaced the system drive. As I use a mac portable, I did not want to use USB drives which needed 2 USB cables, 1 for power and 1 for data, so it had to be firewire for me. Although I would have wanted FW800, I could not seem to find them at a price that I was happy at, so this was the next best thing. Very easy to install, you only need one philips screwdriver, and once you're done, the enclosure has a very solid feel to it. The machined aluminum does a very good job of acting as a heat sink, so the drive runs quite cool.

Perhaps the only slightly disappointing thing is the enclosure screw, which attaches to plastic threads, which feels cheap, but otherwise does not affect the functionality.
