Comments about Macally G-S350SUA eSATA, FireWire-400, and USB 2.0 External Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA Hard Drive:
I had a couple extra SATA drives laying around that had been pulled from old computers that I wanted to get the data off of and use as back ups. The case works great. Whisper quiet and plenty fast using FireWire 400. Some people have claimed that it overheats. That may be due to the drive being used. So far, I have not had any heat issues. Haven't found any issues with it at all. Would recommend.

Comments about Macally G-S350SUA eSATA, FireWire-400, and USB 2.0 External Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA Hard Drive:
I needed a way to access an internal drive while traveling. It was important that the enclosure have a firewire connection. I chose this because it was made of aluminum and had a number of connection options. The drive was easy to install, but you will need a jewelers screwdriver. The drive seems well made and reliable.

While remembering, it is just a case, as one it is excellent. It is bilt of solid aluminum and has lots of connection options.
the only default I find in it si the plastic back, being made of plastic.

How you use the productAlthough we believe the esata ports to be faster then the firewire and what a number of users desire. We learned we could not access the necessary sata without voiding a pre-paid computor warrenty. Were needing the drive spaces for a variety of plans in home designs. [...]Things that are great about itEach enclosure sports an additional connection port, we learned that if we added a 400 firewire device downstream, this may make our single 800 firewire port slower overall ( this encloure tempts users with an additional port on the back yet they are in sata or 400 firewire flavor, this could slow down other direct attached drives ), We have added small lap top chill fans without much noise under each enclosure, Happy our hards drives do not sit under our computor! Less heat _ longer life possibly!Overall - we can optionally employ the additional 400 ports which eachenclosure selectively... if we willing to exchange some of the drive speed from each enclsures... no one has suggested a way around this yet. Thedrive enclosure options allow us connection opportunitiues to use an older external 400 dvd recorder -player and older web cam (a firewire 400 device) with exchanges for speed loss, Soon as the warrenty we hold ends, we maybe able reach in for the sata cable to make things appear faster on sata. And still have the firewire connection use at thesame time.We can take either enclosure drive to our other computors for back ups in OS and softwear etc. Appreciate the styling. Two drives beside our entertainment room do not stand much.
