The Product, - Just got back from a trip to Turks and Caicos, and my husband loved using this while scuba diving. He got some great pics after discovering the underwater mode on the camera. We also enjoyed playing with it on the beach and not worrying about the camera.Maintenance - It requires some attention - rubbing the seal with the provided silicon grease before use and soaking it in freshwater after use in saltwater. This is not difficult to do and will extend the life of the casing. Use - Dropping the camera in and using while in the housing is very easy. We even took some underwater video.Possible Cons - It is good up to 130 ft. We looked at some that went deeper (200 ft I think) (with different cameras), but in the end, decided this was the best for us. - The photos will not be as nice as housing your DSLR,and investing in some strobes, but just the housing starts around [$]! Other uses - We also plan to use it on out sailboat. It'll keep the camera safe and it floats if it accidentally goes overboard!B&H - This was my first time using B&H. They were cheaper than ordering straight from Canon, and they were also quick and reliable.Overall, if you are looking to take some basic underwater photos this is great.

Purchased this housing so we could take our Canon Powershot SD790 IS camera on a diving trip to Hawaii. It worked fine snorkeling and in rain. We were so happy, then we went diving... Once we reached 30 feet, IT LEAKED about a teaspoon of water which was just enough to DESTROY OUR CAMERA. We followed the directions religiously and used a lot of the silicone gel. We are now on vacation in Hawaii without a camera!ALSO, read the warranty information CAREFULLY. They will replace a defective housing, but NOT your camera. [...] Only use this housing if you don't care what happens to your camera and if $150 is not a lot of money for you to throw away.

Ever since buying my camera I always wanted this underwater camera case. I finally had a reason to buy it when I went down to the Carribean.
To play it safe, I bought an extra memory card to use just for the underwater shots; in case there was a leak, I did not want to lose all my holiday snaps. I definately followed the intructions and I had no problem with any water leaks. Only one time there was a tiny bit of condensation inside the case after using it, but that was due to the change in weather. In the end my main fear was my own paranoia, though there is no harm checking to make sure there are no leaks when going into the water with your camera.
So, like all the reviews, make sure you read the instructions and try the case out in the sink or bath first just to be sure. And finally make sure your camera battery is charged, because I forgot to fully recharge mine and missed out on some nice photos of turtles.

I have a Cannon Power Shot SD790IS and LOVE it! I purchased this water proof casing for it to use on a snorkling trip to Mexico. The pictures and video turned out AMAZING! The instructions are easy to understand and the controls are easy to use just as long as you play with them before you get in the water. What I really liked was how clear the viewing screen is underwater. I really couldn't find any negatives about this product. I can't wait to use this on my trip back next year!

This is a great case. It functions easily and I was able to take some great pictures shark diving. The only con with this case is that the controls are not well marked so you should be familiar with the buttons before you get it underwater.

Was originally looking for a housing for my Rebel, but they were too expensive.
Then I found this one for my little SD790. I'm absolutely thrilled about it. Just came back from Hawaii. Used it every time we went into the ocean (swimming/snorkeling, no scuba). Everything worked great, no leaks, easy operation, great pictures and videos, especially since the SD790 has an underwater setting. The only quirk, and it is really just a minor one, is that it is a bit difficult to push down on the shutter half-way for the camera to focus. Because of the sealing there isn't a lot of tactile feed back. But one gets used to this and the camera does a good job even if just pushing the shutter button.

We needed a product to protect our camera from the sand. I video while riding in our sandrail. This worked great. Easy to use, fits the camera like a glove. The case scratches easily, better that than the camera. Will need to buy extra lens covers for backup just in case, however this part of the camera NEVER scratched. ALSO while videoing it kept the wind sound out (at 50 mph) and you could hear the engine perfect!
