I am a videographer and use these for interviews. These have been great for me. They are lightweight and give out plenty of light for an interview. Comes with nice white umbrellas that pop right into the light, which clients like a lot better than diffusion clothes-pinned to barn doors. Highly recommend for basic interview set ups. I've also used for lighting miniatures and animation paper - worked great. Have only had for a few weeks so can't comment on the durability, but at this price I'd be happy to just keep replacing them when needed. They also do not get dangerously hot; no one will get burned if they accidentally touch it.

I used these lights on an indie short I shot a few weeks back. They have consistent output between units, but there are some build quality issues.

The housing is plastic, and has a tendency to melt especially if you are bolting these to plates and mounting from the ceiling as we did.

The switch is on the light unit itself rather than inline like most professional lights.

The barn doors are built in, and cannot be removed with the stock setup. There is also a large gap between the barn doors and the unit, meaning to fully control the light you need to wrap it in cinefoil, adding to the head problem. Without the black wrap you can get some strange light spill from around the gap.

All in all, they do the job. They project light to an adequate degree. The bulbs never burned out and the wiring seems solid. I would not recommend this to a careless or a fast moving set, as repairs would be difficult. The plastic build quality is a concern for heat, but will hold for shorter durations or normal set-ups.

For the price, this light does exactly what I need it to. You do get some light spill from the barn doors, so you have to be careful how it's set up.

Otherwise a great piece of equipment for a great price.

We use the Qualite 300's for lighting classes we teach in the studio... With the Qualites the students can clearly see where the light is and how to adjust it with the use of lighting modifiers... Makes it simple when they switch to strobe units as they know how and where to place the lights from practice with the Qualites...

Haven't had any of the overheating issues that others have described. If you're looking for a cheap Omni/ProLight style replacement, these are it. That said, they are not equal. If you are good with light, you can make these work just as well but will take a little more manipulation time.

Stands are little shaky, but not bad. A sandbag or two wouldn't hurt.

NOTE: I am a semi-pro videographer, specializing in short films and experimental documentary.

I've enjoyed using my Qualite lighting kit. I'm a film student and, so far, this kit stands up to it's name. I used to have a different kit and it was very heavy, bulky, and would easily tip over. The flood lights in this kit are lightweight, and help to prevent tip-overs. The biggest feature I like the most are the air cushioning stands. In times past, I've gotten myself a bloody injury from rushing and forgetting to tighten one of the sections. The outcome???? One heavy light crashing down on my hand, pinching it to the point of blood. Not so with this kit. If you forget to tighten a section, it comes down very slowly, saving your hand and your equipment as well.

Great for doing video & works well in warm climate... i read some reviews about this product, some said that because the lamp external body is made of plastic it melted or turned soft w the heat of the 300 w ligth bulb, but it didnt, and i live and work in Cancun Mexico w warm weather all the time, it worked fine, the lamp body was in perfect condition even after more than 45 min of continuous use,.the only problem that i found is that the umbrella that comes w the kit is very delicate and can break easily if your'e not carefull, also the stand is good but sometimes it appear to be too thin for such a big ligth... overall is a good product & great price.

I bought this light as part of a green screen interview kit: 2 lights, umbrellas, stands.

Though tungsten, these lights are very nice for close to medium range interviews. The kit is of excellent quality, very study, and easy to set up/break down. Most of the light head remains cool to the touch, but I use leather gloves anyway, just to be safe. The lights also cool down very quickly after use, so you don't have to wait a long time to pack up. Two of these lamps provide plenty of light for interviews, small product demo videos. However, be sure to set your white balance on your camera properly, or else the video will be yellow.

Haven't noticed any burning or smoking yet, used them a handful of times. The umbrella mount doesn't really make sense. But they're very, very good for the price!

Im an independent filmmaker and I can say that personally I love these lights they work great for my needs and you can't beat the price tag. I have heard rumors that the product has melted before, I have never experienced anything like that with mine. Great product especially on a budget.

Bought 2 of these units and couldn't be more satisfied! The handle on the back makes it easy and safe to adjust when it gets hot. No more searing the tops of my fingers!!

I shoot weddings and I just needed a light to set up for the reception. I underestimated the power of a 300 Watt light. It's great but too bright for what I needed it for.
