The Samsung L100 Digital Camera provides 8.1 megapixels of resolution along with a 3x optical zoom lens and a host of impressive technologies including Digital Image Stabilization and Intelligent Face Recognition Technology with Auto Red Eye Fix in an easy-to-use, compact digital camera with a durable aluminum body. The camera also incorporates a bright 2.5" LCD display with intelligent display features and a suite of advanced video and photo editing features.
For further convenience and ease of use, the L100 has been loaded with 10 scene modes to choose from, including Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-Up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, and Self Portrait, so users of any skill level can capture the best image possible in any setting. The camera provides even further assistance by including a Function Description feature and Photo Help Guide that automatically displays a brief and easy to understand description of each setting when scrolling through the cameras' menus, helping the end-user determine which setting is appropriate for their current shooting scenario.
- 8.2 Megapixel CCD
- The 1/2.5" high resolution CCD sensor provides an effective resolution of 8.2 megapixels and allows users to achieve clear picture quality even when making poster-sized prints. In addition, the cameras image processor enables fast picture processing while maintaining rich color gradation for high quality pictures.
- 3x Optical Zoom Lens
- The 3x optical zoom lens has an inner zoom lens mechanism that allows for a slim design and efficient operation while still providing a very useful 37-111mm equivalent focal length. Furthermore, all of the lens elements have a special multi-coating on both sides to effectively prevent chromatic aberration and distortion, and provide outstanding picture quality.
- DIS (Digital Image Stabilization)
- The L100 Digital Camera uses a unique Digital Image Stabilization system that utilizes multiple images to extract the effects of motion blur and special algorithms to eliminate the image blurring caused by it. This system can also compensate for the blurring that occurs with fast moving subjects, and uses much less power than typical mechanical stabilizations so it does not reduce your shooting capacity.
- Face Detection & Self Portrait Modes
- Face Detection technology makes taking pictures of family and friends a snap, as it detects up to nine faces and automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure better composition and image quality. Self Portrait mode is a unique functionality that takes the guessing out of taking a self portrait. By utilizing Face Detection technology, the L100 automatically detects the user's face, adjusts focus and exposure, and will only allow a photo to be taken if the subject is centered in the frame; plus detects up to 3 faces for self portrait shots with friends.
- Intelligent 2.5" LCD Display
- The Samsung L100 has a 2.5" LCD display that provides superb contrast and color reproduction, allowing you to enjoy a brighter and clearer image. The Intelligent LCD system provides automatic adjustment of brightness based on the ambient light conditions to provide the most viewable display image possible while preventing unnecessary battery consumption when pictures are taken in low light conditions.
- High Sensitivity with Images Noise Reduction Function
- The Samsung L100 provides high exposure sensitivity with an equivalent ISO 1600 so users can take clear and bright images even in low light conditions, and this High ISO capability is combined with a highly effective noise reduction system for clear images under all shooting conditions. Plus the high sensitivity enables you to take sharply-focused images of moving subjects such as children or sporting events.
- Beautifully Designed Aluminum Body
- The all-aluminum casing of the camera provides superb durability, and the cameras slim design (about 20mm thick) is both attractive and comfortable to handle for all users.
- ACB (Auto Contrast Balance) Function
- The ACB (Auto Contrast Balance) function provides automatic adjustment of image contrast to provide a more balance image, and minimize brightness drop-off for more natural portraits under backlight or when there is a large brightness difference within the frame.
- Built-in Color Effects
- You can turn even the most ordinary image into a stunning work of art by using the cameras built-in color effects. There are seven color effects (Normal, BW, Sepia, Blue, Red, Green, Negative and Custom), which users can apply at the time of shooting or when reviewing the images on the cameras display (Color Filter, Shaded, Elegant & Add Noise effects available during playback).
- 10 Scene Modes
- The camera has ten scene modes available for quick and easy adjustment of camera setting to suit the scene at hand. For example, the Children mode, with its open aperture and fast shutter speeds, lets you "freeze" children and other subjects in fast-moving action shots, and the Night mode automatically uses the slow synchronization function to help you get clearer and brighter pictures at night.
- Movie Record Function
- The L100 records broadcast quality VGA resolution movies for home viewing and can record lower resolution video for internet use; plus you can even edit your movies right on the camera itself. Furthermore the camera includes a Movie Stabilizer function, which helps maintain steady recording, and a Successive Recording function that allows you to pause and resume video recording as desired and merge those multiple movies into a single file.
- Internal and Expandable Memory
- The camera is equipped with 10 megabytes of internal memory so there is no need for a memory card to take pictures. The camera memory is also expandable to much higher capacities using Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards (also compatible with MMC and SDHC cards).
- Function Description Feature and Photo Help Guide
- The cameras' Function Description feature and Photo Help Guide automatically provides a brief and easy to understand description of each setting when scrolling through the cameras' menus, and Step-by-step instructions on use of the camera are provided through the LCD to help you select the best setting for your particular shooting scenario.
- The "E" Button
- The Effects or "E" Button allows users to easily access a slew of creative effects that are available right in the camera. You can do basic editing functions like crop your image or adjust colors, use creative color effects like sepia or negative (inverted colors), or use one of the fun effects in the camera such as composite images or add photo frames that are appropriate for many occasions.
- Easy Print Button
- The L100 supports PictBridge Direct printing so you can print out beautiful images with out the need of a computer. Just connect the camera to a PictBrige compatible printer, press the illuminated print button and print. You can also use this button to transfer your images to a computer.

It also needs a seperate battery charger so you don't need to continuously open and close the cheap plastic cover for the cable. It will probably break off quickly. I already purchased as wall charger and extra batteries!

This L100 is a good snapshot camera, unless you are in low-light situations, like indoors. The flash is limited.
If you shoot only outdoors, this is a great deal for a 10+ megapixel camera, but indoors, unless you have a lamp shining right on your subject it won't focus properly and the flash will only illuminate what is right in front of you... so if you want to capture two people on different planes, only the closest one will be illuminated and all that is behind is too dark.
I'm also not fond of needing two hands to hold and shoot. This is a nice, compact camera, if fits in a pocket but because it is so small, I had to use two hands to be able to focus, zoom and shoot.
The battery is excellent, charges right in the camera and last a long time.

I use the L100 camera manly for fun and for taking pictures on vacations. The quality of the camera is amazing and, i have yet to learn all the different functions on the camera but what i have learned so far intrigues me. However, i have already had to send the camera back because the lens has already broken!
