I lost my eyecup on a recent vacation to Florida. The sun poses particular problems in getting the right shot to begin with; however, it is worse when you cannot get a good read on your subject when extra light hits your eye as you are trying to focus on your subject. The eyecup helps keep out excessive light and provides an extra "bumper" for those of us that wear glasses. The replacement eye cup works just as well as the original. The only concern is that it does not fit quite as tight as I would like, thus the danger of loosing the new one is in the back of my mind. I would recommend this product to others.
