Comments about Sterling Publishing Book: PCPhoto Digital SLR Handbook, Revised & Updated by Rob Sheppard:
This books serves as a solid introduction to the world of digital SLRs. I made the switch from film to digital about a year ago and found myself frustrated by some of the complexities that come with the digital world (eg. white balance). This book does a great job identifying the unique aspects of digital photography and gives a little bit of information about how to use these differences to your advantage.
The book is pretty basic, and doesn't delve very deep into any topic. It served as a good introduction, but I still found myself seeking more information once I finished reading it.
My only complaint about this book is the author's over-emphasis on the benefits of having an LCD screen. The phrase: "just take a look at the screen and see how your shot turned out" shows up at least 3 times per page and gets annoying.
