The Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone System replaces its UWP-C series predecessor with enhancements that include a rugged, all-metal chassis and Mic/Line switchable input at the transmitter. PLL-synthesized tuning, space-diversity reception and all other professional wireless features that made the UWP-C series a popular choice, go into the enhanced UWP-V1 system.

The camera-mountable receiver features space-diversity technology which stabilizes reception and minimizes RF interference by selecting the strongest incoming signal. In addition the antennas swivel so that you can achieve even stronger reception. A stereo mini jack output with monitor volume control is featured and both stereo, mini and XLR cables are provided. An LCD display provides channel & frequency information, battery life, RF-input level, audio-output status and accumulated operating time. The receiver operates on 2 AA batteries for up to 8 hours and its compact design and included shoe-mount adapter allows easy mounting to most camcorders.

The improved body-pack transmitter features a microphone and line level input switch. This allows wireless transmission of microphone or line level signals. Like the receiver, the body-pack transmitter also features 188 selectable UHF frequencies and operates up to 8 hours on 2 AA size alkaline batteries. An omnidirectonal lavalier microphone is supplied with this system.

Improved All Metal Construction
The transmitter and receiver both feature metal construction for maximum durability on the road.
Mic and Line Input Switch
The transmitter features microphone and line level switching for transmitting microphones or line level signal sources.
UHF Synthesized Frequencies
Both transmitter and receiver provide 188 user selectable frequencies, providing plenty of options when interference is present.
Space Diversity Receiver
The receiver features a space diversity design which simply chooses the strongest signal between the dual incoming signals, then sends that signal to output.
Selectable RF Output
The transmitter allows selection between 5mW output power and 30mW output. 5mW is suitable for indoor, simultaneous multi-channel operation while 30mW is intended for outdoor, long-range use.
Comprehensive Display
Both transmitter and receiver feature a comprehensive LED display providing channel and frequency information, battery life, total usage time and more.
Omnidirectional Lavalier
A high-quality omnidirectional lavalier microphone provides the sonic quality needed to handle professional and non-professional applications.

I bought this from B&H and have used it for numerous wedding gigs as a Professional Videographer. The range and clarity is superb, the mic set comes with three wind equilizers and with the first hug the Groom gets it's Bye Bye to the foam wind screen, so order more of those. One way I have solved the loss of the wind screen is I wrap a small piece of double-sided scotch tape around the mic and the wind screen stays put.

I have designed a Bracket that will allow the reciever to mount to the rear of the Canon XL2, it attaches to the three screw holes that are at the bottom of the Canon Accessory bracket. I have the Canon CH-910 Dual battery Charger/Holder with two Canon BP-970G batteries on it and the Bracket that holds the Sony UWP-V1 mic reciever mounts behind the 910 with the same slant as the battery holder has with room to get your fingers in to release the batteries. BEC will make and sell the bracket through B&H as soon as we get the Prototype squared away and fine tuned, and to hold the mic reciever you will need the BEC
"URX-P2" Mounting Box that will attach to the new Bracket. The new bracket for the rear of the XL2 is black powder coat and very professional looking.

I've used this system for 2 and 1/2 years and I own 3 pair. From the beginning, sometimes I get this pumping hiss when people talk and I have to vigorously plug in and out the microphone plug to get it to go away. Sometimes that doesn't even work! I do a lot of independent film work and I have to pray each time I pull these guys out of my bag. "Please let today be a no pumping hiss day". I love the durability, but 3 different transmitters bought at 3 different times having the same problem, is a problem. I have the 42/44 series. I have played with all the attenuator levels and I have recently upgraded to countryman B6 microphones and I still get the same pumping hiss. When the hiss is not present, I am very proud of the sound I record using this product.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (42/44 - 638 to 662MHz):

I bought cheap, and then bought this. You know that feeling you get when you know you made the right decision. I had that right when I opened this package. You can dial in the pickup to suit whatever you need. I used it on one person for a lecture, a group of guys on a panel... VERY versatile. I'm just getting into video, but I've worked with audio for a long time.. a good image with crummy audio is no fun to watch... so happy with this purchase. The range in insane too.. over 45 feet through walls and not even a slight drop out..

I am a professional videographer. I needed something for ENG work, interviews, etc. I didn't know much about mics, as I'm used to working with pro sound guys, but I chose this to plug directly into my new camera (HPX250). I've only used this a few times now, but the reception and audio quality are fantastic. Great, crisp sound. I highly recommend this mic.

Love it. Very professional. Awesome sound quality. I was worried about ambient noise as I shoot on the road. Not an issue. I find the sound quality to be a little bassy. I'd rather have that then hollow and echoy.

I know the price may seem a bit much but once I had the receiver mounted to my rig I was a very happy camper.

            Awesome purchase!

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (42/44 - 638 to 662MHz):

We are a production/post unit inside an ad agency. Most of our client-driven projects get outside production companies, but talking heads, pro bono projects and corporate b-roll often are shot with our own gear, so there's a lot of downward pressure on equipment budgets. This mic system seems fine for our uses, but if I were buying for rigorous field production, I would get a much better system.

This one has decent quality and range. Our office has a lot of low frequency rumble from air handlers, and a mic test in my office revealed that the system doesn't much care for that. Sounded like there was a gate on the signal. But when we get into the field, we seem to be in good shape.

Comes with a mini>XLR adapter, so my purchase of one was superfluous.

The all metal body is much nicer than the sennheiser's plastic with their flip lid cover. the quality is just as impressive with an easy to use interface.

Comments about Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (42/44 - 638 to 662MHz):

I was torn between these and the Senneheisers. I went for the these because they were cheaper. Largely the same quality I would argue as the Senneheisers, with a few minor features missing. Larger, and the mic pack can be turned off by the wearer while the Senneheisers can't, but for my uses and budget I got the quality and reliability I needed. Good range also.

I mostly do commercial work, docs and now have a pilot in production. For years our subjects were tethered to a Sony ECM 44B. Always loved the sound and ease of use. But after speaking with a B&H rep and reading everything I could find I settled on the UWP-V1. I am very pleased with how easy it is to set up and the superb audio quality. The thing is rock-solid too! Compared to other systems at this level, it's a bargain too!

I fiannly got the chance to use this new wireless mic system I bought for shooting an HD video the other day and I was amazed. Great Sound no drop out or anuy other issues. I was concerned at first that the volume might be to loud but it turned out it was ok.

I use this mic system for hunting on a television show. I have tried other mic systems and this is by far my favorite, picks up well and is clear and crisp.

We use this product in classrooms and in field recording. The metal case gives us a rugged mic set to work with, and the durability of this mic set has been excellent.

Clarity of the signal and the audio quality are consistently good, and the signal has been consistently strong regardless of minor physical obstacles in the area of use.

It's easy to change channels if there's any interference, and it's also easy to attenuate the signal when needed, which allows connecting the receiver to any number of different recording devices.

I have yet to find any shortcomings of this mic set - we now have three of them, and in almost two years none of them have missed a beat.
