The Sony UWP-V6 Wireless Plug-In ENG Microphone System replaces its UWP-C series predecessor with enhancements that include a rugged, all-metal chassis and Mic/Line switchable input at the transmitter. PLL-synthesized tuning, space-diversity reception and all other professional wireless features that made the UWP-C series a popular choice, go into the enhanced UWP-V6 system.
The camera-mountable receiver features space-diversity technology which stabilizes reception and minimizes RF interference by selecting the strongest incoming signal. In addition the antennas swivel so that you can achieve even stronger reception. A stereo mini-jack output with monitor volume control is featured and both stereo, mini and XLR cables are provided. An LCD display provides channel & frequency information, battery life, RF-input level, audio-output status and accumulated operating time. The receiver operates on 2-AA batteries for up to 8 hours and its compact design and included shoe-mount adapter allows easy mounting to most camcorders.
The improved plug-in and bodypack transmitters features a mic and line-level switch for standard wired microphones line-level sources. Selectable output power provides a choice between 5mW output, which is suitable for simultaneous multi-channel operation or 30mW output for long distance transmission. Like the receiver, the transmitters also feature 188 selectable UHF frequencies and operates for up to 8 hours on two-AA size alkaline batteries. The transmitter features a comprehensive LCD display.

Ariel's are fixed on so use a box to transport them and avoid bending them. Range seems good. XLR to mini cable could be longer, it wont reach on a DSR500 type (big)cam to the xlrs on the back when mounted on the mounting shoe. Only one mic clip, a few more/better variety would have been good. Useful display info and easy to use.

Comments about Sony UWP-V6 Wireless Plug-in & Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I use these mics to record both run-and-gun sports interviews (combined with a stick mic and the wireless brick) and sit-down lit interviews using the wireless lav. Great for photojournalists. Throw it in a small back and you're all set. The LCD UI menus take some getting used to. It's not as intuitive as it could be. Quickly changing frequencies is not easy at first.

Comments about Sony UWP-V6 Wireless Plug-in & Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I plan to use this product to mic the groom in my wedding videos, as well as have used it with interview projects. Captured audio was great.
It has a good sturdy feel.
I like the feature that one of the cords has an XLR end that can go directly into my camera without a converter.
Although it is small, there is a lighted LCD screen to show battery life, frequency, plus other options.
Have not tried the Plug-on transmitter yet.
I am very happy with it.

Used this to shoot video (audio portion) of my daughter working as a horse wrangler. Worked great in a large corral. No dropouts and audio quality was fantastic. Also great physical construction. I have also used for short, in studio, distances with no negative effects.

I chose this system over the Sennheiser G3 with no regrets! I have used this daily for the last two weeks and it is still going strong! Crystal clear voice from good distances, have yet to have it cut out!
Highly Recommended.

Really Simple.. I own for of these Mics. I love them. I get clarity, distance and most importantly they don't compress the audio signal like a lot of other mics.

Great sound, easy setup. I bought this to use for ENG and I haven't been disappointed in the sound quality. The only negative I would say is that I wish you could use both mics at the same time.

1- Performs exactly like a Samson Micro 32 (when it was legal) which served me for 4 years, NEVER gave me any interference and range was fantastic, cost 3 times less than the Sony V6. As a matter of fact, the Audio Technica that came with my S. M.32 is a $200.00 LAV and does NOT pick up sounds from the room. Just the talent. NO interference. The other Samson current models are a disaster.OK, back to the UWP series by Sony.1- Overpriced and had interference once. Yes, I did a scan. Church was clean.2- When the talent speaks any words containing "s" the S seems to have a lot of Treble like a mixer with the highs on the MAXIMUM. It really bothers me as for pro Audio, this is unacceptable.3- BIGGEST COMPLAINT: The supplied LAV that came with my V6 produces excessive sound coloration plus picks up every sound in the room. HOWEVER, for a Bride and Groom facing each other this is GOOD as it picks up the sound from all 3 (Bride, Groom and Priest) EQUALLY!4-No case? C'mon Sony... for [$]?! I am actually using my Samson 32 case for it since I can never use them again.5- I LOVE that both transmitters feature a LINE-IN so I can plug straight into the DJ's mixer at the Reception. The result by recording on camera the pure sound coming from the CD on 1 channel and the ambience from your shot gun will make your wedding production very hi-end, being vastly superior than placing the mic on a stand near the DJ's speakers which records the music and ALL the ambient noise you don't want, plus the JD's speakers sometimes are cheap distort a little. Especially if it is a Bose brand in which you'll be getting just the mid range. . Man, that will make your night difficult...

When I tested the model for the first time on our video shoot, the vocal clarity on the wireless mic was outstanding. I purchased other units with a bigger price tag and now I'm kicking myself for the mistake[...]I just made the best purchase yet for 2011.Never judge a book by it's cover or the price ..... LOL

I don't shoot daily, but I do shoot most days of the week. Until my organization bought this unit I had to be tethered to my audio source. The freedom this equipment offers is priceless.
So far it has operated flawlessly. I've shot around several news crews also using wireless gear without any interference. It also improved the audio quality coming into my camera than my audio cables offered.
It was also very easy to start using. I've never used or installed a wireless system, and was wary of what I didn't know. You do not need any special experience or training. The equipment works right out of the box.
I highly recommend the system.

I use the UWP-V6 as a portable wireless system with my sound board or recorder. One set of rechargable batteries lasts 8 hours . . . great.
I also plan to use it to shoot video but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

Glad I went for the uwp-v6 as opposed to just the Lav. I haven't figured out yet how to adjust the frequency strength to save batteries. I was hoping the DVD it came with had tutorials. But these are minor issues. Love the 'em. It is super clean and easy to use.

Comments about Sony UWP-V6 Wireless Plug-in & Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz):
I bought this as a second system to go with another just like it. Reliable and will run for around 6 hours even in the Hi output setting using two AA batteries in the TX and two in the RX.
The mic is used for all kinds of shoots from corporate to sports.
The windscreen comes off the mic too easy and will get lost, I wound some black thread around the foam to hold it on the mic. The TX and RX are a tad heavy but much better cases than the previous plastic ones Sony had. Another nice feature of this newer system is the Mic/Line input setting on the belt pack transmitter.

This wireless set can take abuse well. It's reliable, sounds good and just works. A very solid product. Also, I like the way clients always comment on how professional the set is when they feel the metal (not plastic) case of the transmitter.
