LaCie 1TB Triple Interface External Hard Disk
The 1TB Triple Interface External Hard Disk from LaCie is a high-capacity drive with an eSATA, FireWire-400, and USB 2.0 interface. It features a rotation speed of 7200rpm. The drive is capable of transfer rates of up to 80MB/sec using eSATA, making it an excellent solution for video editing, high resolution imaging, data backup, or general storage.

I purchased this hard drive for video project I am editing with my Dell PC laptop. I have heard conflicting reports on this hard drive but so far it has worked beautifully for my needs. I've only had the product for a couple of weeks. I had to change the format from FAT32 to NTSF to be able to store large files on it. But now everything is great. I did try to use the drive to export files from a MAC and then use those files on my PC for editing but I could not find an easy way to do that and did not have the time to reseach it. Another con for me was one of the Firewire cables that came with the unit dropped out of port easily and lost connection. I also agree with other reviewers that while the design is great, the surface scratches very easily and collects dust.

Just bought this hard drive for back up and it seems to work great. Set up was easy with the included software. Allocated most of the drive to Mac format and a small portion for Windows. Backed up my iMac and MacBook using SuperDuper. Was fast and painless.

I use this hard drive for backup and storage. I needed a large drive since I have a lot of graphics files and photographs, both of which can be huge. I opted for the triple interface so I could use Firewire, and that proved to be a good decision. The drive accesses, reads and writes pretty much instantaneously, even with large files. We use these drives for backups, storage, and pro video work - when we fill one up we go get another. They're affordable, attractive, stack nicely, and are super-dependable - we've never had problems with one, ever.
My only criticism is that they're not a very eco-friendly thing to buy. If they could be made from more recyclable / upcyclable materials, in a more sustainable manner, and sold with less packaging, that would make them even better.

This is a great little external hard disk. It's the first time I have ever worked with or owned a external hard drive. Was super simple to install and downloading all my laptop info was not difficult. It's also very compact so it's very portable.. Would recommend to anybody. This has been an amazing hard drive for me. I have a couple different sizes 500-1T and I have 7 of them all together. Very slick, good looking drives, have worked very well for archiving as well as working from. Im a photographer so I shoot a LOT of pictures as well as a lot of filming for video projects/commercials etc.

I'm backing up my Mac using Time Machine, the set up went smoothly. It came w/ USB and both kinds of Firewire cords, a nice touch. I read some complaints about noise, but it sounds quiet to me, and does not feel hot to touch. It's been running well for a few weeks now.
