The students in my high school Video Production course race to class during production sessions to be sure to grab their fave equipment... our Manfrotto tripods with the Fluid Heads are definitely their choice. We have been purchasing this product (and earlier versions) for 5 years, and have nothing but rave reviews! Although a few thefts have meant we've needed to purchase additional units, this tripod configuration has lasted through use by at least 300 students who don't usually treat equipment wit TLC.

I purchased this head to shoot video with my Canon T3i DSLR. With either my 18mm-135mm or 10mm-20mm lenses, the camera will flop forward unless the tilt drag is set firmly enough to prevent it, which then prevents smooth motion. I have been getting by with releasing the drag for shooting, and snugging it up again when the camera is idle. Looking to improve this situation, I have ordered the 701HDV to replace it, as the 701HDV has a spring balance system, as well as the ability to adjust the camera mounting position to achieve balance.
This may not be an issue with a camcorder, but anyone looking to use a DSLR with this head should consider the above.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:
I bought the head to go on my treestand camera arm. I have another 128 RC head on my other treestand camera arm and have used it for several years. It has worked flawlessly for video while hunting. It is light weight and easy to install. I've never had any problems with it.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:
I shoot video for weddings and other events using a DSLR. This is an excellent head for that size of camera. Most of the other fluid heads are built to handle much larger cameras and can add extra bulk during transportation that's not needed. One thing that is missed from larger heads is a sliding plate to balance the camera from front to back. If you have a long lens on your DSLR it can be weighted forward a bit.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:
I am using this head with an old Gitzo G80 (3578) tripod for my Panasonic TM700 HD camcorder or Nikon D200 DSLR. Thr Gitzo tripod has a 3/8" male thread for this head, but without a locking screw, so it took some force to lock the head on the tripod firmly.
The tripod itself weights about 2kg, and is 1.6m high fully extended. The whole set up balance well after I made some adjustments on the pan - using a slot screw driver to loosen the screw on the pan axis - such that the drag is about the same as the tilt and is the right amount for the tiny TM700. There is a hex screw on the tilt axis and I could also adjust the drag if necessary.
This head also holds the Nikon D200 (with a 18-200 lenses) well but adjustments are not as quick as the original Gitzo ball head. I would gladly accept this as now I only need to carry one tripod on most occassions for both camcorder and DSLR use.

I use this Micro fluid Head for filming wildlife. I mounted this head on a tree arm and I film from a tree stand.
I find this head to pan very smooth, making video much better than cheap heads that advertise to be fluid heads.
This head is a little heavy, but very well constructed.

This head is a bargain. The design and construction are both first rate.
Very, very smooth. As is usual for Manfrotto, the operation is very easy to understand. I use it with a medium weight DSLR - no problems.

I use it with a spotting scope and camera interchangeably. It is the best head I've had and I've had quite a few. Fluid movements, stays put without drifting. Quick release plate is trustworthy (buy spares!). Removable handle is good for packing in luggage. This may be a nitpick. but it seems the produt could have been made a bit more compact without sacrificing anything. Perfect complement to 293A3 tripod for a super compact travel pair.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:
I'm using it with my Canon 60D and it's smooth. It's very reasonably priced. I also bought it because it uses the same plate as my ball head. I've never had problems with Manfrotto products. My one complaint is that the handle doesn't fold down. You have to remove it from the head before storing it. Not a reason to keep me from buying it.

I picked this up to use with a spotting scope. I had never used a fluid head before and was amazed at how smooth it was. Additionally, it made glassing much easier and more enjoyable. A much needed addition to my gear.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:
My wife is an ardent birder. I bought this head, along with Manfrotto's 055XB tripod legs, for her to use under her spotting scope. It is simple to use, which is a good thing. It has a quick release plate which makes set up and take down a snap. And a nice touch is that the handle can be mounted so you can use it with either hand.

Video head used with a Manfrotto 3021BPRO tripod with a small Canon VIXIA HFM30 video camera. I also have lots of 200PL quick release plates - one reason why I purchased this model.
Smooth pan, perfect size for the Canon camera, great for panoramic camera use also but does not have a level - make sure your tripod has one a level. Can be used to support a spotting scope.
As usual, excellent Manfrotto construction.

Especially given its reasonable price, this is a good piece of kit. The knobs lock the head down tight when motion is not required, and the fluid damping permits very smooth movement when movement is what you want.
