I have three plates; one for my Minolta 300mm f2.8, and one for Minolata 600mm f4 lens. The reason I have one on each lens is because I want to change quickly sometimes. I have to tighten the screws a lot, with a screw driver -- not just using the knurled knob, to keep the plate fixed to the lens on the bigger lenses.
On my 600mm lens there is enough space between the mounting holes on the lens support piece to use both a large mounitng screw and a small one which gives a rock solid mounting to the 357 plate of my 5.5 kg (over 12 lbs)lens.
I got my 3rd plate for my camera mounting to the fantastic Manfrotto 393 gimbal mount because I can't imagine using any other tripod-head combination now that I have used it.
However, I wish the 357 was about 1/2 as long for use with my camera. Though it is perfect for the big lenses. But maybe I will use this third plate for another lens one day, that's why I haven't cut it off yet.
The 357 plate is solid, and comes with two screws of each size. I feel confident my fancy lens or camera will not fall off and come crashing down when I put my lens with plate attached on my 393 gimbal mount. There is a spring loaded pin which must be depressed to remove the lens from the 393 gimbal mount.
The entire Manfrotto 393 with 357 plate is solid and accurately manufactured. It is a dream to use. I do not want anything else as far as gimbal and mounting plates goes.

Bigger than original
This monopod plate replacement is a lot bigger than the original and the SONY PD150 camera only allows one screw so it keeps coming loose while out in the field.

I use the 393 Heavy Duty Gimbal Type Telephoto Lens Support
and needed another QR plate for fast change out from my 400mm to the 75-300mm. Love the solid mounting this 357 Pro Quick Release Adapter provides. Locks on very solid and safe. With the safty latch it will not fall off no matter how big a lens you use.

Comments about Manfrotto 357PLV Quick Release Plate for Video:
I originally bought this head for photographing birds. It works very well for this application. Along the way I also found it to be a great spotting scope mount. Just as in photographing birds, I can pan around the large flocks of waterfowl that gather in this area each winter very easily. It stays where I stop and has fluid movement. My only negative comments would be that there is not a flash bracket available to get flash over the lens ( had to build my own). And the rubber pad on the QR plate will not stay glued down. Other than that well worth what I paid for it.

Leave it to Manfrotto to put out an economical product that [...] works perfect! I mounted my DVX 100B on this plate and haven't taken it off since. I use it with my Manfrotto 510 Pro Video Fluid Head (I will never understand why they discontinued this great model), as well as with my rails and bellow matte box system from Cavision.

I use this plate with my 200-400 f4 Nikkor & 3 Nikon bodies. It has plenty of back & forth movement. Makes it easy to balance the lens in the Manfroto Gimbal mount.

I use about 3 of these plates and adapters with my 2 manfrotto 516 heads & tripods. I attach one to my slider, one plate horizontally and one vertically. I attach one adapter and plate to my shoulder rig. I also attach one to my 2nd camera rod system and another to my steadicam setup. This setup makes it easy to move evetything around in seconds which is neccessary when shooting a wedding.

Standard quick release plates that do exactly what you would like them to do. They work perfectly.

I use this plate for all my cameras and large lenses. I use them because I do a lot of panoramic images using Bogen's Panoramic Head Equipment. These plates combined with Bogen quick release plates have a very good safety latch. Arca Swiss seems to get all the attention and is perhaps, and I mean perhaps, is slightly more refined but at a higher cost. Bogen has done a great job with this system. In fact I prefer this system to Arca Swiss because of its release qualities. I.e. the safety latch feels more secure to me and the release screw releases easier than Arca Swiss. Although I am not an expert on Arca Swiss I have used their system several times on a trial basis. I even exchanged the Arca Swiss plate on my older Wimberly Head to a Bogen in order to be compatible with all of my Bogen equipment.
