I use this tripod to support Canon Digital SLR cameras. While some may think this is over kill, I deal with lots of little children and this keeps the children and my camera save. Construction is true and strong, easy to raise and lower with crank and everything locks together well. Not much weight. Should be sold with a bag. Would be nice if on the center pole, when the legs spray out, that there is a screw to tighten down the sliding ring on the lower part of the pole. Other than that, I give this tripod a 10 and will be buying more for the people I work with.

OK for studio work for large load, height is good, but...
For transporting and out of studio work it is cumbersome and fussy. Leg struts bend and damage easily, takes time to set up. Feet spikes don't bite into ice (hockey team pics).
For studio work, it's fine for portraiture but awkward to move around. Doesn't 'go low' for unique product shots.
If you buy this, get a second (lighter) tripod for other uses.

Comments about Manfrotto 028B Studio Pro Triman Tripod Legs (Black):

I basically bought this to mount a boom for video because my older tripod couldn't handle the weight. It performed flawlessly, was easy to set-up and break down and is solid even when fully extended. Nicely designed and not too large or heavy to transport for it's capability.

great and solid tripod. I especially like the 3/8 screw on the underside for low angle shots. I had to build a rig to hold my fluid head for this low angle, but that was easy. great tripod

I've used it a couple of times. It's pretty solid and the height is what i needed. You will need a three foot step latter if you are going to set it up to it's max. height.

This is the best tripod I have ever used, hefty but not too heavy, as sturdy as I will ever need, and totally secure. I had my Canon 5D complete with battery pack and a 300 mm lens and the tripod was rock solid steady. I would recommend this model to anyone interested in a sturdy, reliable tripod that can handle heavy camera and lens combinations.

I use this product to shoot weddings. I shoot with DSLR cameras which are light but the tripod can hold more weight. The are quick to set up and adjust. Perfect lever to raise the camera higher without having to adjust all of the legs. Work great with attaching to a dolly. Love it.

I use this with the Gigapan Pro robotic tripod head, with a massive old Bogen ball head. Had been using a Gitzo, but it was too small: this works extremely well with the Gigapan Pro. At full extension I had to stand on a park bench to operate the Pro head and it remained very, very stable. It isn't the smallest to carry around, but it is eminently portable. I've carried it around NYC in July heat all day.

Comments about Manfrotto 028B Studio Pro Triman Tripod Legs (Black):

I bought this tripod for its height and use it as a supplement to my shorter (but faster to setup) regular tripod. There aren't many 8 foot tripods, and for the money this is a good buy. My other experience is with Manfrotto's 9 foot behemoth, which while very stable is overkill for most cameras today (supporting nearly 50 lbs) and so it is costly.

Despite the thin looking legs I've found this to be very stable. It's not very fast to set up or take down - I wish the center column had a quick drop mechanism - but for a solid set of tall legs, this gets it done.

Great product for use in documentary film-making (with a lot of running around, travel, and remote location work) and corporate productions. I use this with Sony PMW-EX1 and HXR-NX5U cameras and a 503 Manfrotto head.

Very good, easy to manage leg height adjustment, an included spreader that does not stick when opening, and a smooth crank handle for those rare times when you just have to raise that center column a few inches.

Tough construction (few plastic bits, thankfully), and quite comfortable to carry over a shoulder for hours at a time (if you must).

We bought this Tripod to replace a tripod that did not have a the height necessary for where we would place the tripod for our church services. Now instead of placing the tripod on a road case we can extend the legs to a height that works for our purposes. Not only that it still breaks down to a manageable size.

I purchased this tripod so I could shoot over peoples heads. Tripod is a reasonable weight, extends well above my other tripods, is sturdy when it is fully extended, easy and quick to set up, and the footprint is smaller than my other ones (important because I shoot in tight spaces with lots of people). I love it and as usual, B&H gave great advice.

Excellent for studio work. The vertical gearing is precise and easy to use. If you're looking to use it elsewhere it's a bit heavy.

Strong and sturdy. I recently purchased my first large format camera and needed a tripod that could hold the weight and not break the bank.

Comments about Manfrotto 028B Studio Pro Triman Tripod Legs (Black):

This is the second set of these we've purchased. They are lighter than many video tripods but sturdy and versatile enough for any situation. Fully extended, your camera is at the ceiling for great high shots. Pair it with the Manfrotto 501 head and you are set.

We bought our first set for use with a Canon XL1s back in the early 2000s. That set has traveled with us all over. The weight is light enough that even after an exhausting day of shooting, you can throw it over your shoulder and hit the road (don't think I'm saying it's super light-weight though. It has some heft to it).

Now that we shoot DSLRs, it looks pretty hilarious to have such a little camera on such a huge set of sticks, especially with our 501 head. But the stability can't be beat. A standard still tripod just doesn't do the same trick.

The only downside is that it doesn't fit into my case for air travel. Looks like I need a bigger case.

If you need to get above the people in an event this is the tripod that you should be using. I have had many tripods over the years and all of them are to heavy and not high enough. This baby is tall and light weight. Great product.
