The Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate adds a compact quick release system to any head that does not include one yet. Its compact 200PL-14 (old part #3157N) quick release plate makes it ideal for use with point and shoot cameras, digital SLR cameras, or spotting scopes.
The 323 adapter allows quick mounting and dismounting of the camera from the tripod head. A 3/8"-16 threaded socket with a 1/4"-20 reducer bushing makes it compatible with any tripod head.
Replaces old part #3299.

I use the 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate by Manfrotto with a gang of 200PL-14 Plates for all of my equipment.
I filed down the top of the plate on my 679B Three Section Monopod (Black) so that I could screw this plate on directly. It allows me to fold out my monopod and slap down my 400mm f2.8 in two fluid movements. I have tried many solutions to this and this one is by far the best. I mount the 200PL-14 Plate backwards so that I can rock the heavy side with the camera attached to the 400mm f2.8 lower at first. That means my right hand on the lens mount with my arm and elbow holding the weight and my left hand holding the monopod and I rock the plate and lock it down. It is just great!
As a side note, I freaked out the sales people when I put the 400mm f2.8 with a D3 on it and shook the monopod to see if the monopod would snap or if the plate would come off! Everything held together perfectly! (I don't use a ballhead on the monopod because no matter what the lens tends to flop or the head is at some weird angle right when you need to just slap down the lens and go.)

I bought this adapter to use with my Sachtler tripod head as it was too much trouble switching plates all the time (I have a Manfrotto monopod).
The Manfrotto rep said this system would work with my Sachtler, which it does to some extent. But the adapter will not lock into place. I'll have to be a bit careful with it, and will see how often I use it over time ...

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
put this on a Manfrotto 7322YB tripod, works fine. seems similar in design to previous a Manfrotto tripod with a quick-release head that I've used. don't have much experience with other tripods or head to compare. holds the weight of a Canon t2i sturdily.

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
I bought this to use in conjunction with my video tripod and tripod plate. I do both video and photography with my dslr and am constantly switching between a monopod, video tripod and a shoulder rig for handheld video shooting. After buying this I realized it isn't intended to mount to a flat surface. The release mechanism protrudes down past the mounting surface.

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
Originally I bought the plate to accompany my glidecam 2000pro so that I would have a quick release system to put my 7D on. Upon opening the box i discovered the bottom was not completely flat, but i solved that by putting a metal buffer to even it out.
works great!

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
While i think most things in photography are a bit over priced, this is a great way to get a quick release plate for your own, DIY project. I put mine on a home made pano head, and while at 30 dollars it cost as much as the other parts combined, I value its ease of use. (this plate also matches my tripod so its use is seamless for me.)
I guess the plate works fine... maybe a small amount of play in the way the mechanism grabs the part connected to the camera, but hardly a deal break. In all, i am satisfied.

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
After years of dreaming about it, I finally have compatible quick release plates on All my gear: two camcorders, two still cams, car window mount, tripod and Manfrotto articulated arm kayak mount. Every camera can move instantly and securely to any mount device. These adapters are an inexpensive way to accomplish all this.

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
The only problem with this quick release is that one is not enough. As soon as you put it on your tripod, you're going to want another to put on your slider or RS-7. This is one of the best products Manfrotto makes and that's saying something. I especially like the safety lock that ensures I won't accidentally unlatch the release.

Comments about Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate:
I have an old Bogen tripod that had the simple screw head and I finally had it with unscrewing and screwing my cameras off and on the sticks. I decided to go with this retro-fitted adapter and couldn't be more satisfied with it. I especially like the little fail-safe lever that keeps the lock-down from slipping open and dropping the camera like it did with a pro friend of mine who had a lesser adapter.
