Manfrotto 190XB Tripod Legs (Black) with 128RC (3130) Micro Fluid Head.
If you're serious about getting good quality video, this is the bottom of what I would recommend. Go cheaper, and you get what you pay for jerky pans and tilts.
This is a great system, and you have several cameras, then this extra adaptor is a perfect addition, allowing you to quickly and easily change cameras...
Very secure. I have slung the tripod on my shoulder with Camera attached and never had an issue...
Snaps into the head, and locks automatically. Always make sure though. Move the lever to the right, it unlocks. Just make sure you have a hand on the camera before you release the lock!

This works as well as the original, meaning once you get used to it (be sure you are inserting the plate in the correct direction)it provides a fast and easy way to mount your camera onto the tripod, or viceversa. Using a tripod with a quick release since about the middle of the last century, this was the first time one had broken (the ring used to tighten and remove the place just fell off!!); so I would NOT recommend this tripod to anyone.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I bought this to use with my Manfrotto 190XB w/ 496RC2 HEAD. This was an additional plate for the head. One plate is always attached to my 70-200 tripod collar. So the additional plate is very convenient to always have attached to my 7D. The plate itself is of good quality. I have no worries using it the 7D 70-200 2.8 combo. With the 496RC2 head it pops on and off with ease and is secure. As others have posted it does have an additional peg sticking out of the plate that is not needed with my gear. The peg is help secure the plate but my gear does not have the whole to accept the peg. The peg (on the edge in the center as illustrated in the product picture) is easily removed. Just push it through and it pops out. Instructions are included on how to remove the peg. The plate works great and good construction for my needs. I am an amateur so maybe my needs are not as demanding as others. Also the heaviest setup that I have is the 70-200 2.8 IS II attached to my 7D. These plates are reasonably inexpensive so it is nice to have a couple in case you misplace one and cannot find it when you are in a rush.

Direct replacement/addition to my tripod. I have two cameras, my tripod only came with one. So buying another was kind of a no brainer.

I use this plate to quickly swap cameras (nikon) onto my tripod- manfrotto 3001bpro w/ 322rc2 head.
This plate installs to camera bodies easily (can also be used w/ Sony cyber-shot dsc-w150/ flip).
It also has arrows to orient the lens to make sure you mount the camera on the head the right way.
It is a tad heavy, but it is built to last a lifetime!!

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
We have used these Manfrotto mounting plates for a number of years now. They are very high quality and easy to operate. If you plan to do a lot of vertical shooting with heavier equipment I would recommend the anti-twist version PLARCH-14. The rubber base does a great job for most applications and protects your equipment nicely.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
The attachment screw for this plate is not removable/replaceable, so if you're planning to attach a plate to a camera/lens with a 1/4" female thread, you need this plate. I use a Manfrotto 460MG head, and I like the security this set-up offers.

for the camera body and tele zoom lens. Very easy to use. But not reliable. The small metal piece that hold screw is very easy to lose. So, the mounting screw could not attach the plate any more.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
A very satisfactory replacement for the original Bogen plate. Very secure. The only drawback is that it fits in only one orientation, whereas the original one could be oriented in any of four 90-degree positions, but this turns out to be rather unimportant.
