If you're serious about getting good quality video, this is the bottom of what I would recommend. Go cheaper, and you get what you pay for jerky pans and tilts.
This is a great system, and you have several cameras, then this extra adaptor is a perfect addition, allowing you to quickly and easily change cameras...
Very secure. I have slung the tripod on my shoulder with Camera attached and never had an issue...
Snaps into the head, and locks automatically. Always make sure though. Move the lever to the right, it unlocks. Just make sure you have a hand on the camera before you release the lock!

This works as well as the original, meaning once you get used to it (be sure you are inserting the plate in the correct direction)it provides a fast and easy way to mount your camera onto the tripod, or viceversa. Using a tripod with a quick release since about the middle of the last century, this was the first time one had broken (the ring used to tighten and remove the place just fell off!!); so I would NOT recommend this tripod to anyone.

I've had so many camera plates in the past and this is one of my favorites. It's easy to attach to a camera (no more fooling around with keys or coins), easy to connect with the quick release plate. It's lightweight and cost effective. great job Manfrotto!

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I really like the fact that you don't need coin to tighten this plate to camera.. As far as plate it self, personally I don't really like it how it works it's nice that it's small, however my friend videographer has bigger manfrotto plate, and he slides it. I believe that set up is more secure that this one, if you don't lock it properly camera might fall off from Tripod it happened to me several years ago, and it happened to my friend. So I do recommend to other photographers to try other plates as well.

Mount plate works well with existing mount. Attaches solidly, and isn't too bulky to be left on the camera

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I would recommend this camera tripod release plate. The product is used on a regular basis by students that thrash stuff. The plate hold up well and the screw works with most photo camera/video camera. Overall the design of the plate is good. The only downfall is the foam falls off the plate after extensive use. I would recommend this product.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I bought a couple of extra quick release plates to go with my Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod and the 700RC2 fluid head. Robust, simple, and well-engineered, these quick release plates allow me to have different camera mounts "ready to go" at a moment's notice. I'm pleased by the quality and B&H always has the best price.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I use product for what it was made for. It is the male plate that is attached to the camera base. It is made to match the female plate plate that is attached to the tripod.
It slides easily into the female plate which has a locking lever. Once the locking lever is set the connection is very tight, no shake or wobble. I am at the age that, unless I'm shootiny with a fast shutter speed, I need a solid tripod and this gives me s solid package.

Comments about Manfrotto 200PL-14 Rectangular Quick Release Plate with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I tried generic to save a few dollars. It was almost perfect, but just a little too big so that the safety lock doesn't work.
So, shell out the extra $5 and get a genuine Manfrotto plate. They are perfectly designed and really not all that expensive.
I recommend one for each camera, left in the camera bag, so that you never leave home without it.
