Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
The release plate elevated a Bogen-Manfrotto tripod to perfect working order. Which is what release plates do for tripods and monopods that lack them.

Works exactly as described. Great replacement for backup, or if original is lost. Or for another camera using the same tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
It's a release plate and it does what it has to do. Two notes of caution if you never used one before. It will increase the height and depth of your camera a bit. So if the camera fits tight in your camera bag now, you may need to move things around once you add the plate. Also (and this caught me by surprise), I was on a shoot and needed to change my camera battery. But I could not get the battery cover open with the plate installed. Fortunately, a penny will fit the plate's attachment screw, so make sure you throw a penny in one of your camera bag pockets. And check to see where your SD card, attachment cables, etc are to make sure that the plate won't cover them up. One of the pointy ends of the hexagon faces in the same direction as your lens if that helps.

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
I have used these flat bottom plates since the early 90's. I have them mounted on every camera I own. I use it on my macro rail and anything else that would get mounted to my tripods.
Easy to use and will allow your equipment to set flat when not on a tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
As a semi-professional outdoor videographer, I have found Quick Release a must for mounting and dismounting my video camera from the tripod. The time savings is enormous compared to screw-type mounting. The flat bottom is also an improvement over previous models because the camcorder can sit flat in the camera bag. The only negative, the plate has to be periodically adjusted for the camcorder to sit properly on the tripod. Not a big deal, though. Just check the mounting about every three to six months, adjust and rescrew and you are good to go.
Checking the mounting every so often is also good so that the plate does not unscrew and fall off the bottom of the camcorder over time. Quick Release Plates are a bit pricey, so you don't want to have to buy too many of them.

This plate is everything you need for your 3039 head. The 3 extra smaller screws are included along with the main screw for extra holding torque.
It's also made out of heavy duty material, that's why it's not cheap.

Ordered this to fit my Manfrotto tripod after losing the old plate. It worked just as it should. It's kind of hard to mess up a QR plate unless you just order the wrong one!

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
This works perfect. I like being able to set the camera down flat with the plate still on there and the camera not leaning on the lens.

Must Have for any Pro application.
Screw it to the bottom of your DSLR, or leave it on
that 400mm. Always have one under your HD cam/corder
it doesn't snag going in & out of your gear bag.
Buy one for every camera and just leave it on!!!

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
Specifically the "Flat Bottomed" quick release plate. I put this on my 80-200 2.8, my 300 2.8 and my 4 X 5 camera and never have to take them off. When the gear is not on the tripod, it still sits flat and doesn't roll around AND I can still screw my monopod into the release plate.

Now I can leave the quick release plate indefinitly on the camera, given its low profile.

Comments about Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Plate (Flat Bottomed) with 1/4"-20 Screw:
This is a good alternative for the 030-14 plate that ships with the 488CRO Bogen head. Though it doesn't give you the extra lock-nut to really secure the plate, it does give you a flat surface to rest the camera down on when not on a tripod. When working with 2 bodies, one can sit flat and not put unnecessary pressure on the lens mount from leaning on the lens when resting on the ground.
