The Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter converts a 1/4"-20 flash accessory into a shoe mount, and allows off-camera shoe cords like the Nikon SC-17, SC-28, and SC-29 to be mounted upon brackets that only feature a 1/4"-20 screw. It is also popular for use as a "sacrificial" shoe mount to put under an off-camera cord which already has a shoe underneath, so that wear & tear occurs upon this piece as opposed to the more fragile and expensive cord itself.
Replaces old part number 3298.

This is a must if you have any type of off shoe cord with a plastic base on it. You might get away with out one with a light flash, however if you have a heavy one just buy it. This product in my opinion is over priced for a 30 cent washer and 15cent screw. B&H has it priced competitively against their competers, however the company that makes it is charging way to much in my opinion. This is still a must to have with the off shoe cords with plastic bases, I can not repeat that enough. Also do not even bother to try to get by cheaper by going to the hardware store and find a work around, I spent enough time finding out that will not work. Just go ahead and buy one, I have one for every off shoe cord.

The clearance it provides on a Nikon with a flash bracket and SC-29 adapter works.

Comments about Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter:
I use the 262 Nikon Flash Adapter by Manfrotto to set my flash on a bracket. B&W film is still my passion, so I use my FM2A with flash, but since I got a bracket as a gift from former student, I really knew that I wanted to use it with SC-17 cord and the flash.
Even when it looks like as simple... it is strong... so not worry about problems getting loose.
I only do not like that the peace is not angled as is an actual hot shoe. Sometimes It makes me feel that it may slip off the bracket.

Comments about Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter:
I bought this adapter after purchasing a similar product off a popular auction site. Unlike the one I bought off the auction site, this adapter holds solid to the base of accessory and doesn't spin loose when the flash cord tugs on it.
I've used this with a SU-800, SB-600, and SC-28. Mounted on flash stands and on a Stroboframe.
Don't bother trying to DIY or go with cheap(er) imitations - I wish I bought this first before I tried those methods.

Comments about Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter:
This is something Nikon should have done from day one -- makes the SC-XX cord work on my Stroboframe flash-shoe bracket. It's not quite perfect though. The screw head protrudes a bit where I believe it should be flat. Otherwise, well made and well worth the price.

Comments about Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter:
I was a little disappointed that Nikon made the SC-29 with only a screw option. I definitely need to be more flexible than that and a screw on adapter takes too much time. This cheap little adapter came quite in handy, however. It works great. The only problem that I have is that it's not thick enough to support itself on a stand that doesn't have a way to lock it. This means I had to buy another light stand adapter that has a locking mechanism built in so that this doesn't slip off when I'm using my SB-900.

-Allows you to mount an off camera flash module (ttl cord) or a Lumedyne/Norman type flash head onto a flash bracket.

Comments about Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter:
A good way to add a shoe foot to a Nikon SC-17, 28, 29 etc. sync cord. It's very well made. One thing it's missing however, is a 1/4" tooth lock washer to keep the foot from loosening up & twisting. A 10 cent lock washer can be found at your local hardware store.

I use this for my Canon Cord 2. My Cord 2's plastic always break. It won't hold on the hot/cold shoe due to the broken plastic piece. I screwed this onto the bottom and now I can use it again with a metal base.
