Comments about Manfrotto 244RC Variable Friction Magic Arm with Quick Release Camera Bracket:
As a partial quad, I have only limited use of my hands. This crazy wonderful device has made photography a joy again. To newbies - when tightened, the twist handle in the middle locks both end joints as well as the middle. I attach the super clamp to any tube on my wheelchair, or to the table where I do macro work, attach the arm and then the camera, The system requires little strength and gives enormous stability. Even when attached to my powerchair (not nearly as stable as a tripod or table) I can get good, crisp results down to 1/30 of a second, 1/15th if I hold my breath - really, it works! With limited arm strength, I can't wrestle my equipment, but it takes only a little practice to master the "variable friction" aspect of the arm - a ponderous phrase for saying that when it's loosened it becomes increasingly easy to re-position, and when tightened it becomes increasingly resistant to changes of position - tight-tight/loose-loose.
A final note - I had to return one of these recently. On opening, it was clear that the unit was previously used and damaged. A quick phone call and B&H had a new unit to me in just a couple days.
B&H has been a favorite store for photo and computers for many years. I've always found them to be purveyors of quality goods at very good prices. As I've said before: Good stuff. Cheap. What's not to like?

We are using this magic arms in a research lab where we often have to mount several cameras in confined spaces. We also need to switch between different camera position setups. The magic arms give us all the flexibility we need for that. Since our cameras are more on the heavy side, we use two arms for each camera to keep them in place which works just fine for us.

I had another arm before but it has 3 adjustments to control each joint. Since this has one quick release to loose all the joints, this is by far my favorite photo accessory now. Especially useful when you are doing upclose small item photography.
Well worth the money.

Comments about Manfrotto 244RC Variable Friction Magic Arm with Quick Release Camera Bracket:
The Magic Arm is amazing! It is everything I hoped for! Helps make taking Macro Pics a cinch! Combined with the Super Clamp this is a close up Photographers dream come true! Just clamp it to a beam, bar or rod, adjust your camera position and tighten the easy to use knob and shoot away!! Would like to see Manfrotto come out with a slightly longer one in the future. Would also like the see the Super Clamp in different sizes so it could grip on wider tables easier. But really those are things that are easy to work around.

Use this for various grip applications on film set. very handy and works as advertised. quite strong too (and beefier than the picture would suggest). Quick release plate makes awkward mounting of DSLRs much easier.

Comments about Manfrotto 244RC Variable Friction Magic Arm with Quick Release Camera Bracket:
I use this product in combination with the Avenger F1000 suction mounts to mount cameras to cars. This thing is pure magic and I don't know what I would do without it. It is strong, rigid and can be contorted into just about any shape/position that I need it.
Only down side is it would be nice if the camera mount was removable so that I could use it for different tasks, such as a mini-boom on a light stand. But no biggie. It's a great product.
