Comments about Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod:
This car window pod allows you to unobtrusively "shoot" wildlife from the comfort of your car. So do many others, though none quite like this one. This is the only car window support that allows you to mount a full tripod head with quick release. No other window pod does this. It works well and will not break the bank. I looked for just this kind of item for several years. Now I know it exists.

Good grip on the window. Feels very secure. Will use this when I'm chasing storms and need to fool myself into believing I'm safe inside the car.

Comments about Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod:
This Window Pod is just what I needed after buying the Canon 100-400mm L zoom lens. Taking decent photos from my vehicle while hand-holding the camera and the heavy lens proved almost impossible . The Window Pod and the Manfrotto 498RC2 ball head provide excellent stability for my wildlife photography. My "keeper" count has improved dramatically!
As always, B & H handling of my order was hassle-free and prompt.

Comments about Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod:
I bought this for use for "shoot and run" photography. I often drive by a lake where there are some nice birds or a scenic place where I cannot get out and setup a tripod to take an HDR. This window mount lets me pull over and quickly mount a telephoto or camera to the window. As long as I shut the engine off and sit still, the window mount is pretty good. It is not a tripod and you are essentially sitting on your mount (the car) so camera shake can happen more but it gets the job done. I have only used this a few times and have not put it thought the paces yet but it feels very sturdy and tough.
I was looking at several other mounts like the nikon and bushnell versions which include tripod heads but they seemed to be weaker. The Manfrotto is made of very tough materials and feels very rugged and solid. Two set screws are on the underside to firmly attach a tripod head. I mounted a Manfroto 496RC2 ball head to mine and it is a very nice combination. True the Manfrotto window mount does not come with a head or mount but this makes it even more solid since you can choose which one you want.

Comments about Manfrotto 243 Car Window Pod:
I use this mount for my Swarovski spotting scope mounted on my Giotto's mini-ballhead when viewing critters from my car.
The Window mount is sturdily built compared to some flimsy other models I've tried.
It's also effective for mounting cameras or binoculars as well----I'd buy it again and recommend it to anyone!!
