Solid & sturdy makes a nice combo with the BH-3 nice & quick to change from landscape to portrait. A very nicely machined accessory.

I recently purchased a carbon fiber tripod & ball head for use outside my studio. I soon realized the problems with turning the camera w/lens on it's side had balance problems as well as throwing the center of focus off center. This brace is wonderful. A bit steep in price but it's value in quality as well as usefulness far out weigh it's cost. I now use this brace in the studio on my camera stand as well.

Yes this is a very expensive piece of kit.
However the manufacture is of the highest quality and the bracket really makes a difference if you are shooting an SLR from a tripod, you can shift from horizontal to vertical format in seconds.
The bracket fits my D300 very well, although it does make the camera bulkier and a little heavier, after using the camera hand held on several occasions I have gotten quite used to the extra bulk and find the camera handles fine with it attached. It is very quick to mount on my Arca Swiss head.
I am pleased with my purchase, recommended

. . . but not for everyone and not, necessarily, for every day. I started using an L-Bracket with my D200 and found that I was missing not having one on the D700. Can't beat it, when you're using a tripod and moving back and forth from landscape to portrait position. If you're going to purchase the MB-D10 for your D700, then the L-Bracket might be the next logical step. Downside: expensive and now you have an even heavier camera, so you need to think about how you feel about holding / carrying that heavier camera and if your tripod and head can handle the weight.

My gear is a little bit heavy,so when I setup it on tripod in portrait congfiguration,it becom unsturdy because it was off centre.But every thing gone away after I have Kirk L-Bracket.

I use this with an Induro ballhead and arca swiss style clamp on my D-300s with Nikon MB-D10 battery grip. It fits the product perfectly and does not obstruct any of the ports or the ability to change batteries. It allows easy change from landscape to portrait orientation. and feels very secure once attached. it would be perfect if the dovetail was just a hair wider. I find that I have to be careful to make sure that the jaws of the clamp are just a little touchy when placed in the dovetail and that I must be very careful to make sure that they are fully engaged. If they are fully engaged it works perfectly.

I like the bracket. Bought this for my D700 with MBD10. Had one for my D300 (without MBD10) and liked it a lot. It's a little pricey, but aside from that I have NO complaints. If you shoot with a tripod and like to change up your shooting perspective (portrait vs. landscape), this product is a must have.

This is a solid product. It looked like it would fit[...]Really Right Stuff quick release clamps as they are both Arca-Swiss style brackets. Unfortunately it did not work for my needs—it was too large to lock down the lever. If you have a Kirk clamp (and perhaps other arca-swiss clamps), I'm sure this as good as it gets. If you have RRS parts, stick with RRS quick release plates.

Attaching the BL-D300G L Bracket is easy on the Nikon D300s camera. It is easy to use and can quickly be changed from a horizontal to a vertical position when using a quick release system. I use my L Bracket all the time and wouldn't be without it. I would highly recommend this product for it's easy use and stability when photographing.

I use this on my Gitzo monopod for quick switches between landscape and portrait orientation when shooting with my Nikon 70-200mm VR II lens.

It is uncomfortable when handholding my D700 with this bracket on - I wish there was some sort of quick release mechanism to take it off.

Basically used to attach to an arca Swiss type ball head. The nice thing about it is the low profile so it still fits in my bag without removal. The only con to me is the price.
