I did not use these at all and returned them with no problem. I was looking for a spike foot for mud, water, wet grass, etc. I will make another purchase but want a spiked foot.
Gave it 4 stars. Well made and will suit someones use.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
When taking pictures on the beaches, my tripod would slowly sink in the sand until the legs were into the damp sand. Or one leg sinks faster than the others making the camera off level. The shoes stop the sinking and seem to make the tripod a little sturdier with the broader leg base.
My only possible con is the life of the rubber clamp that Manfrotto uses but time will tell. But they are cheap enough that that this might not be a problem.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
The last time I took y Gitzo tripod to a beach I ended up getting sand grains in the twist-lock mechanisms of the lower legs - ugh. When I read about these "tripod snowshoes" I had to give them a try, and I'm glad i did.
They are very easy to attach to the leg-ends; a thick rubber cord wraps around the end of the leg (any size or brand) and locks back onto the "shoe" - at first I was concerned as to whether they would stay put when I lifted the tripod to walk around a bit but that fear was unfounded - they hung on without issue.
And most important was the additional stability they gave the tripod in the sand - where previously I had to contend with one or more of the legs continually sinking into the sand, with the shoes attached the tripod behaved as if it were on solid ground. I put as much weight as possible on the top of the tripod before attaching my camera and it didn't budge. An added bonus, of course, was that no sand got into the moving parts of the legs.

I first bought a set to use in the snow but found they also are great to use to help reduce vibrations. I tape a 2" thick foam pad to each shoe when I'm videoing on a surface that has vibrations. What a differenc it can make in the video.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
These all weather tripod shoes are great for use in sand and snow. They are inexpensive yet well made and will fit most if not all tripod legs. While I had expected a clamping ring to secure the shoe to the leg, I am still pleased with the rubber tether. Even without the tether, the feet would still support the tripod in soft substrate.
I used to use a 4inch by 4 inch piece of wood under each tripod leg as a spread footing, when I was surveying in sand or mud.
These shoes make lifting the tripod so much easier. I also like the fact that they fit over the rubber feet, rather than screw in (as some similar, dedicated name brand products do), which prevents sand and water from entering the legs.
My camera sits securly and I feel confident about the stability and sturdiness of these shoes.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
I own a 600mm Canon lens and like to photograph Bald Eagles, etc. In the winter, I'm forced to place my tripod on the snow and with the weight of the tripod, gimbal, lens and camera, one or more of the tripod legs is bound to sink in the snow chancing a costly tipover. Works as well in the mud too.The snowshoes prevent this from happening. Very well made and at [$], it is very cheap insurance for your investment.I strongly recommend this product for the reasons mentioned above.

Very clever item! Sitting here taking pictures on the gulf is great so the legs don't sink in the sand.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
I use the tripod shoes to photograph winter landscapes. The shoes are easy to install and remove, and their relatively large size provide a stable base for the tripod, preventing the legs from sinking too deep and from splaying. The tripod is a little awkward to carry with the shoes on, but this can be solved by putting them on right before using the tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
I thought to use these on beach sand with my large, heavy 190 tripod. But I have found them most useful on carpet! They spread out the contact area on carpet and make the tripod much more solid and stable.
They are a bit big to lug about unless you have a really large tripod bag, but at add very little weight. But when faced with thick carpet, these seem to work wonders. When trying to level and forced to use a living room as your "studio" even a major tripod can rock an irritating amount on carpet with the small foot contact area.

These feet are pretty huge, but they do the advertised job of stabilizing the tripod in snow. Being on the east coast, I can say they worked well after the blizzard...
Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
I have used these on soft, wet snow with great success. A bit cumbersome to attach but work well. Not sure they would be enough to keep the tripod on the surface of fresh powder.

Comments about Manfrotto 230 (3255) All Weather Tripod Shoes (Set of 3):
These snow shoes are fantastic and I wish I had got them many years ago. I live in Canada where using a tripod in the snow is always tricky. These shoes work well in the snow as advertised, but they also improve the grip on on indoor flooring such as linoleum and concrete. (I encounter these surfaces frequently at universities and other large public places, and they have always been problematic with my tripod.) Now I just leave them on my tripod all the time, even though they look kind of funny there.
The only thing to be careful of is to make sure they are flat against the ground when you set the tripod down. They have a tendency to tilt up, which is not stable. Nudge them down with your toe if necessary, and they will hold the tripod securely. They have an angle to them, so it helps to position them so that they follow the slant of the tripod legs (i.e. the sticker is on the outside).
I use these on my Manfrotto 055SS tripod legs but they attach with a rubber strap; it seems to me that they could be used on any manufacturer's tripod, large and small.
