Comments about Netgear 500GB ReadyNAS Duo Network Hard Drive:
I've been running this NAS for almost 2 years now with no problems at all! Very easy to set up, couldn't imagine not having it now, that impressed. I basically use it for back-up of my music, video and photo files.
I stream all of my music from it, Logitech's Squeezebox series work with it with ease. Just install SqueezeCenter on the NAS and you're ready to go. The Sony PS3 will also stream music, video and photos from at as well.
The NAS is very sturdy, runs cool, and it's not that loud, occasionally I'll hear it running but not often. I'd definitely recommend it to all of my friends!

Worked right out of the box -- little setup required. Documentation for "additional features" could be better.

Comments about Netgear 500GB ReadyNAS Duo Network Hard Drive:
I did lots of research for a RAID-1 home NAS box, and this little unit hit all the right notes. Very easy to set up out of the box. And, it's also easy to hack/extend for those who know linux (a must for me).
Positives:
Sturdy, well engineered box
Hot swapable dual drives
Gigabit ethernet
3 USB 2.0 ports
Comes with one drive (many others are BYOD)
Easy web interface
Programmable backups
Programmable startup/shutdown/spindown
Root ssh access option
Able to install Debian Linux packages
Sharing support for Windows, Linux & Macs
BitTorrent client
Picture sharing
Music server
Able to upgrade memory without voiding warranty
Good price for what you get
Negatives:
Can't lock front door to drive access
The only problem I've had thus far is that I can't find a way to install Sun Java for this release of Debian Linux. There are other JVMs however, so this may not be an issue for many.
Overall:
Wow -- what a great box! This does everything I need and more. I'm running with the included 500 GB drive, but will likely upgrade to dual 1 TB drives. I've upgraded the memory already for very short money. Awesome NAS.
