The Kirk LRP-1 Long Rail Quick Release Plate provides a sliding long plate solution to any head equipped with an Arca-type quick release clamp. It provides about 6.5" (16.5cm) movement range, ideal for fine-tuning during macro and close-up photography. In addition, it also features a 90° swiveling Arca-type quick release clamp on top, which now allows bi-directional control.

This is not a geared focus rail as others have mentioned. To move the rail you must release the plate from your head and manually move.

Perfectly designed and crafted. I use it as a tool to help position my 200mm macro. I also use Kirk's and Novoflex's macro focusing rails, but this is smaller, lighter and great for easy "fore and aft" movements to get desired framing. Works particularly well with the Kirk knob release (love the Arca Swiss compatible!).

Useful as a focusing rail with and without collared macro lenses.
Long enough to serve as a nodal plate for panoramas with most lenses.
Well designed and light.

Got this as a macro focusing rail with my arca-swiss type QR clamp. The machining of the plate is excellent, solid and does not weigh too much.
It doubles as a nodal rail for my camera setup. though lacking markings, i only need to setup the nodal point once for my lens.
it requires a hex key to release the QR clamp screw to repositioning to a right angle. It would be good if the screw has a D-ring built in for easier repositioning.
