Kirk SS-1 Security Strap
The Kirk Enterprises SS-1 Security Strap (Black) is a heavy-duty, padded, fully adjustable nylon strap with shoulder pad. It uses an Arca-Swiss style quick-release plate to attach a lens that's on a camera or a lens alone to the strap. The SS-1 provides a safe and convenient way to carry a second camera or telephoto lens.
To shorten length of strap, hold bottom side of looped strap, grasp buckle and pull to desired length. To lengthen, hold strap above buckle, grasp buckle and pull. When finished, grasp buckle and pull short end of strap, making sure it's taught in buckle.

This is great. A combo strap with plate. Enables me to shoot two bodies easily. When I have my 400 with me, I can put the strap over my shoulder and my 400 is safe and secure.

This product is ideal for large lenses.
This also can be used to strap the body. This can operate quickly as BLACKRAPID strap.
I have this shoulder portion of the OP / TECH better thought of as soft.

I have a 500mm f4 and when is coupled with my D700 and the flash, carring everything around without the backpack is very difficult.
The strap from Kirk is very practical with the Arca Swiss style clamp; allow you to better distribute the weight and have your camera ready to use. The clamp could also be used as "head" for monopods (very usefull)
The only suggestion to Kirk should to add something like a safety lock to avoid accidental loosen of the clamp and then "fall on the ground" risk for the lens. I know, the "pin" in arca swiss plate should prevent it to slip, but in this case you do not have your expensive glasses on a tripod, but hanged on your side...More safety will be welcomed.
