The MC Mix from Euphonix is an eight-channel control surface that uses a 100 Mbs Ethernet EuCon connection to control audio/video applications running on Mac OS X or Windows 7 based computers. EuCon is a high-speed communication protocol and enables control of virtually every application feature with EuCon aware software. The control surface also supports the HUI and Mackie Control protocols, but with a slightly diminished level of integration.
Euphonix has long been a mainstay of high-end broadcast and audio production equipment and the MC Mix borrows many features from the Euphonix MC Pro and System 5-MC. The unit will work with up to three additional MC Mix units and/or one MC Control to create a larger, integrated system with up to thirty-six faders. The eight faders and rotary encoders enable fast access to pan, EQ and plug-ins with clear metering and info displays.

Comments about Euphonix MC Mix - Control Surface for Audio and Video Software:
Our office uses this surface for mixing and mastering audio in Final Cut and Protools. The motorized sliders are extremely helpful in giving me a visual and tactile representation of my audio levels. The switches and sliders are all capacitive so they know when they are being pressed and they disengage their motors so there is no fear of stripping them when adjusting levels mid playback. If you are pairing with the MC Transport or MC Color you will have to buy a switch because there is no through port on the backs of the module. It comes with attachable riser bars but I found they put the surface at an uncomfortable working height. This is a pro level surface and there is a learning curve that comes with it. But once you get it down you will never want to go back to mixing on your screen. If you are used to mixing audio live on a sound board than this is a perfect solution without having to go to a full blown pro level sound board. It is also a great size to fit on a desk.

Comments about Euphonix MC Mix - Control Surface for Audio and Video Software:
The Ethernet connection is glitchy. You have to set up a new network connection that does not let you connect to the Internet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have to reboot occasionally and power off the unit, etc. Not real polished. For the money, it has a very cheap plastic toylike construction and limited functionality. Disappointing to say the least. It might be worth half the asking price IMO.

Comments about Euphonix MC Mix - Control Surface for Audio and Video Software:
This MC Mix is extremely useful if you live in logic or Pro-Tools. The extra faders provide a great add-on to the MC Control surface. If you live in Final Cut or something else where your channels rarely exceed 10 this isn't going to be worth your money. I will stick with just the MC Control is for your control surface. The surface is small and the controls feel good to use. The Eucon deamon is still in need of some revisions as it isn't as reliable as one would hope.
