The 410 Mini Geared Head is a compact geared head that uses easily adjustable knobs and offers precise geared movement in three directions: 360° of pan, +90 to -30° of front tilt & +90 to -30° of lateral tilt. This professional head has a large camera platform and a leveling bubble, and the camera screw travels in a 2" slot to facilitate perfect balancing of the camera's center of gravity.

Comments about Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod Legs (Black) with 410 Mini Geared Head:
I purchased one of these kits to use for field photography using a large format Speed Graphic camera and I have been very pleased.
Usually, quick release is a no-no for large format. This plate locks into place and doesn't wiggle. Additionally, the geared head is very nice when it comes to composing the shot on the ground glass. I can fine tune it without having the camera flop all over like with a typical three-way-head.
This combo has the stability to then hold that shot as you slide the film holder into place in the Graflok back.
I found this light enough to carry without too much strain on a 4 mile hike, and I also appreciate the height. I am 6'-3" (about 1.91 m) tall and I do not have to stoop to use this tripod.
Users of even larger, heavier cameras may want to consider the 405 head.
For large format use, you're not likely to use the center post 90 degree tilt feature, but I have used this with smaller cameras to great effect.
I have one criticism. There was a goofy little piece of plastic that clipped on one of the tripod legs that got lost on my first outing. Hopefully, it won't prove to be terribly important.
