The lens is kind of heavy, and it's hard to tell when it's fully attached to my HV30, leaving me in a state of fear while shooting. But I love the extra room it gives me in my shots. I can't find any other information or reviews of this Pearstone lens, so I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought it, but now that I have it I'm pretty happy. The canon WD-43 or whatever might be better, but this came w/ B&H's HV30 kit & that seemed easy. Glad I bought it!

I also purchased this with the hv30 but it never seemed to screw on the front of the cam correctly. I am always in fear of crossing the threads or stripping them. Seems to screw on maybe a little off, once I feel like it is tight, love the lens. Just not sure on the fit.
Almost wish I would have spent the extra and got the cannon wide angle lens but as with the other post, I couldnt find any reviews so was just trying to save a few $$

[...]. I had a project that was shooting indoors, and this really opened up the field of vision to get some nice shots. The finished video looks great. The lens is a little tight on focus, but I'm very pleased.

My wife bought this for Father's day this year and I did not know how much I would NEED this lens. I have done various shorts and a youtube series where almost all my shots were in an area where I always felt like "Man I wish I could just see a little more." Well holy smokes this is what I have needed all this time!!! I did some tests shots and was blown away by the amount of extra space I can see!!!!
The price is great and quality seems great for the few times I have played around with it.
Attaches to the cam easily...I heard a rumor though that you cannot add ND filters...I have not tested that yet since I do not have any yet :)
Only thing I do not like and it's very minor is that I need to take off the lens guard to use it. I figured it would still fit inside that but does not.

Works great on my HV30. The HV30 is a great camera, but the focal length does not go so wide. Most the shots look like you're shooting with a 50-70mm prime lens at its widest focal length. This wide-angle makes it feel like a 35mm with minimal fish-eye effect.

I used this lens for covering conventions in LA, and shooting small room in Japan.
It gives superb image on the wide side. I'm very happy with the image quality.
However, when I want to zoom-in, the image tends to be hazy. Whenever I want to film something medium close-up, I need to take off this adopter.
Well, it's inexpensive lens... so I'm happy with the outcome, and I recommend others (if you can stand of foggy image on tele-side)

Image is sharp and just wide enough for most indoor work, great for sceanics, and full zoom through is a must in my opinion. Awesome add on for my HMC40. Just need to find a lens shade that will work

There is a difference, Its much wider not to an extent but you will see the difference, you can also zoom in with this wide lens which is good, if you're looking for a lens that can show an entire street then i dont suggest this since its not wide to the extreme but just a little difference

I shoot mostly low budget films and do some motorsports videography and this lens has been perfect for those uses. I am not sure why the other reviewer said it wasn't great but to each his own. I've noticed people saying that the fit is not right but mine fits perfectly. I've gone so far as to hold my Canon HV40 out the window on the highway mainly by the lens and it's never so much as budged. It matches perfectly with the black HV30 and HV40 too, which is great.
I give it 4 stars for VERY minimal distortion in some instances.
I would recommend this lens to anyone who wanted an alternative to a heftier priced Canon lens.

I bought this attachment 8 months ago mainly for indoor filming. At that time I was attracted by black colour which fit my HV30 and a filter thread. Also I trusted B&H who put the same price for own product and similar Canon lens. Total time I shot with this lens is 30-35 hours. A week ago I was able to exchange it with original Canon 0.7x attachment...no surprise. Canon is better on optic.
I put 2 stars only because both Canon (made in Japan by famous manufacturer)and Pearstone (made in China by nobody-knows-who)are equally priced.

I use this lens with my canon hv30. I initially brought it for my gz-hd6 but I got rid of that. This is a good wide angle lens, I haven't had any experience with any others but I'm satisfied with this one, it does just what it is attended for. And also I haven't had any problems with screwing it on or worrying if it will fall off my hv30, maybe I'm just special:).
