I spent a lot of time researching different backdrop supports and finally decided on this one. I currently film documentary style interviews and video tutorials. I am very happy with this support kit, and I feel that it is great for anyone on a budget. The frame is very sturdy and strong, but is quick and easy to break down and pack into the carry bag. You probably will need two people to set it up though. I had no fears of it coming down on anyone's head, and we had it fully extended in height and width. The feet keep it very stable - I did not feel like I needed anything additional to stabilize it (like sand bags). I am using 10' x 12' muslin backdrops with it.
I realize some might not like that the carry bag says "First Studio" on it. This is simply the company's name that makes the support system, and if you don't like it, you could always use a seam ripper to remove the stitching. I left it on. I am filming professionally now and don't feel that it reflects negatively in any way on my ability to do the job.
I probably would purchase this same support again if I find that I need a second one.

Took it out the box and started mounting the stand, I noticed that one of the light stands has stripped threads on the locking nuts, I called Photoflex directly and had to wait for someone to return my call. I was instructed to Email them a copy of my invoice and a picture of the light stand. I own Several Light stands from PhotoFlex and they feel and seem well built, but I've also had them for a while. I'm hoping PhotoFlex has not compromised quality, but I'm not feeling good about a support kit that I can't use because of broken metal part straight out of the box. It should have been checked by someone from QA before shipping it to me. I just emailed the requested information, and I'm curious how they will handle the issue and how well they value their customers? Photoflex you only get ONE chance at this, so lets hope you get it correct!! I'll update in a week....

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Support Kit:
I like the quality and ease of handling of the stands and BackDrop Pole. The whole set up seems sturdy yet lightweight enough to carry around for outdoor shoots. It can easily (in my estimation, any way) be set up by one person if they do it logically.
I was disappointed by the carrying bag, however, as both inside pockets on either side (which hold the LiteStands) were torn away from the rest of the bag for about 10". It won't affect the use of the product in any way, so I didn't bother trying to have the bag replaced; it seemed like more hassle than it is worth.

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Support Kit:
I didn't really know what to expect from this kit, but I have to say I am thrilled with the quality of the stand for this price. Everything about this kit is pretty substantial, and not flimsy at all. The legs spread really wide, and it feels like it would take a LOT to tip it over, even without sandbags. I really like the telescoping cross bar, since it allows me to set it up quickly and easily without any tools. Everything comes packed in a nice bag that feels like it could take quite a bit of abuse as well. Once packed up it's pretty compact, and isn't very heavy either. Yes, it says "first studio" on one end, but just black it out with a marker or rip the seams on the embroidery, not a big deal to fix if that bothers you. The stands also have BOLTS in the leg sections, not rivets. So you can tighten them if they become loose, or even replace them if they become damaged. Overall, I'm very impressed with this setup, especially since it's very affordable, and I'm sure it will serve me well for years to come.
The only other thing I could ask for is air-cushioning (these are not) for when I use them as lighting stands.

Works perfectly and sets up super easily. Lots of the reviews said it was flimsy so I was unsure, but it is not - I even bought some sandbags but I won't need them in all conditions. The pole is easy to use and if you stick to pulling it out 2/3 of the length, it won't sag at all.

This has been great to take to weddings & parties to create a 'photobooth' station! It's not too cumbersome, either. As a female, I can carry it and set it up all on my own:)

Comments about Photoflex First Studio Backdrop Support Kit:
I purchased this Photoflex stand after returning the Backdrop Alley stand (see my review there for why.) I can honestly say that I cannot be happier with this equipment.
The stands are of exceptional quality: sturdy, smooth and with good hardware. The telescoping beam (which I was afraid was the weakest link) is well-designed: it can handle its maximum span with very, very little noticeable bowing and the sections operate smoothly. (I hanged a 10' wide muslin at an eight foot height.) By design, it can be sized to any width larger than the its collapsed size, unlike stands whose beams have fixed, locking sections. The equipment is quick and easy to breakdown or setup. (I set up alone and did not find it difficult to place the beam and raise it.) Despite the impressive heft of the stands, the entire kit is not a burden to carry.
I'd say the bag is fine. I can't imagine what other reviewers plan on doing with this equipment if they are so concerned about this not-even-close-to-flimsy bag ripping.
I shoot in many different locations and generally use large area backdrops of muslin/paper. For me, this setup is perfect.

Very pleased with this product. I love how the crossbar telescopes to extend - I have owned another background stand in the past that used fixed length segments - the telescoping crossbar is so much easier to adjust the stand to the needed width.
While there are probably sturdier stands available, this one is plenty sturdy and meets my needs. Why spend more when this one fits the bill? Great value!

I use this in our studio for holding backdrops in the filming of webinars. It's easy setup (although two people are needed if you go near the full with of the backdrop which is around 12') and sturdy enough for daily use. Positive locks, stiff legs, plenty of height and economical too. Very pleased.

I compared this support system to a lot of others on this website...and chose it because of the reviews.I'm very pleased. It was super simple to put together and I had it up within minutes. I bought a very heavy duty muslin to pair with this and there is absolutely no sagging in the middle. It's pretty much perfect.Someone said that the bag had "First Studio" written all over it...but on my bag it only had it once...and it doesn't bother me one bit. The word "first" does not automatically mean "amateur" to me at all...it's just part of the product name. So don't let this sway you at all.[...]

I didn't need the other version that was $50 more since my basement studio has low ceilings. Also, the stands are very sturdy. In fact, I swapped them out and use them as my light stands since they are so strong.

Does everything you would want it to do. Very sturdy product. Although my primary use involves leaving it setup at all times, I'm sure it would be an ease to use on location. I use this support kit with Savage Thunder Gray Paper and it hold up just fine. Would definitely recommend this product. I was going to go with the Impact brand, but I'm definitely glad I splurged and went with something a little higher quality. The bag it comes with is quite nice and fits the whole kit as well as my 53" roll of seamless.
