I use my laptop for generating backing tracks for recording. Unfortunately the sound quality is always compromised by noise from the battery charging circuitry. The external USB sound card solved the problem, no noise, clean sound.

I just have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB Sound Card for about a month. It is great becauce I can attach it through USB. Also it make sound more effective, music and movie seem better with it. I recommend u should buy this if u want to have a great sound but not expensive

X-Fi surround 5.1 USB Sound Card is low price. And, It has minimum ports for listening.
I have got a environment Clearly Sound for playing DVD and Music CD. When I bought this.
Most sound card on PCI bus system have noise, Which is influenced system noise from System BUS. But USB is not in that category. I can say, "There are no noises".
I think that If you want pro style recording, X-Fi Surround 5.1 is not fit your request. However, You want to low price theater system or good sound environment, X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB be good choice.
